Full Job Description
We're partnering with a large, complex organization to recruit aManager, HR Policy & Compliancefor a newly created leadership role. This position has been established in response to the growing complexity of employment legislation, corporate governance, and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
This is not a traditional HR Generalist or HR Business Partner role. We're looking for a strategic leader with deep expertise in policy development, governance, compliance, or employment law who can confidently influence senior leaders, navigate complex issues, and translate legislation into practical, business-friendly policies.
This is a fully in-office position in South Edmonton.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead the development, implementation, and governance of enterprise HR policies, standards, and compliance frameworks.
  • Interpret complex legislation and legal requirements, translating them into clear, practical policies and guidance.
  • Partner with Legal, HR, and senior leaders to ensure compliance with employment legislation and corporate governance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Provide strategic recommendations while considering operational, financial, legal, and reputational risk.
  • Lead initiatives related to policy governance, ethics, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Review, modernize, and develop policies that support organizational growth and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and coach a Policy & Compliance Specialist while fostering collaboration and professional development.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across a highly matrixed organization to drive consistent policy application and decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen governance, and enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Leverage data, reporting, AI, and emerging technologies to improve compliance, policy management, and operational efficiency.
What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in policy development, governance, compliance, employment law, HR, or a related discipline within a large, complex organization.
  • Previous leadership experience with responsibility for coaching, mentoring, and developing others.
  • Extensive experience creating, reviewing, and interpreting corporate policies and governance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal and technical information for business audiences.
  • Executive presence with the confidence to influence senior leaders and navigate competing priorities.
  • Outstanding critical thinking, judgement, and problem-solving skills.
  • A self-starter who thrives with autonomy and enjoys working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience working within large, matrixed organizations where collaboration and influence are critical.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in employment law or legal compliance.
  • Experience supporting organizations across North America.
  • Exposure to international jurisdictions, including Australia, is considered an asset.
  • Experience using AI and technology to improve policy development, governance, or compliance processes.
