Job DescriptionThe RoleAs the
Senior Manager of People and Culture, you are a senior leadership team member responsible for advancing the co-op's strategic vision by nurturing an engaged, inclusive, and safe work community. You will lead the People & Culture team to deliver full-cycle HR services, ensuring that we attract, retain, and develop top talent while maintaining a positive "people-first" culture that aligns with co-operative. This is an on-site/in-person role.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Work with the CEO and Board to shape the organizational culture and align human resources practices with the $150M business strategy.
- Talent Management & Acquisition: Lead all recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning strategies to fill key roles, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Performance & Development: Oversee performance management programs, leadership coaching, and employee career development frameworks.
- Labour & Employee Relations: Act as the lead contact for labour relations and ensure a harmonious working environment.
- Compensation & Benefits: Oversee total compensation and benefits administration to ensure competitiveness within the retail industry, ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements.
- Employee Engagement & Safety: Lead initiatives to boost employee engagement, champion Health and Safety program, and foster a healthy and accountable workplace.
Qualifications & Experience- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree is an asset.
- Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in a large retail, co-operative, or unionized environment.
- Certification: CPHR/CHRP designation required (or equivalent).
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build trust across all levels of the organization, and mentor an HR team.
- Skills: Proven experience in labor relations, organizational development, and employee relations.
