Full Job Description
This job manages and oversees the daily operations over assigned department(s). Acts as liaison for staff, physicians, directors and administration on a day-to-day basis; independently makes decisions that could seriously affect the overall division and/or organization's financial objectives, performance objectives and strategic results; and monitors and maintains operational profitability in all assigned department(s). Participates in activities that support high quality nursing care, and ensures adherence to the highest standards of nursing care and practice. Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) 3 Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. 3 Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally. 3 Strong interpersonal skills. 3 Excellent leadership skills and ability to be self-directed. 3 Good organizational and time management skills. 3 Knowledge of current, applicable federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements and ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards. Job Duties 3 Ensures quality of care and patient satisfaction through oversight of policies, procedures, and improvement initiatives. 3 Manages, develops, retains, and inspires an engaged workforce. 3 Monitors and distributes monthly or ad hoc operating reports to all providers and reviews information monthly with departmental physician leadership and direct leader. 3 Reviews scheduling telephone service and access data daily, readjusts staffing levels, and provides recommendations to leadership. 3 Determines appropriate staffing levels, interviews, hires, onboards, conducts performance reviews, and works with Human Resources on the progressive discipline of employees within the departmental unit(s). 3 Ensures operational profitability through effective budgeting and resource management. 3 Manages the physical and technological infrastructure and supports organizational structures. 3 Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. 3 Performs other related duties as required. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible. Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid. The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
