Overview

The Manager, Health and Wellness Center Site II serves as the senior operational leader for one or more large, complex Health & Wellness Centers or multiple Health & Wellness Center locations and is accountable for the overall operational, financial, and strategic performance of assigned sites. The Manager provides executive operational leadership across multiple specialties, physician practices, ancillary services, and business units to ensure the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered ambulatory care while advancing Hackensack Meridian Health's strategic objectives. The Manager is responsible for complex ambulatory operations by providing leadership in operational excellence, financial stewardship, patient access, physician engagement, quality, regulatory compliance, workforce development, and patient experience. This position partners closely with physicians, executive leadership, hospital leadership, and leaders for all support departments to develop and implement operational strategies that improve efficiency, strengthen financial performance, expand market growth, optimize provider productivity, and enhance patient outcomes. As the senior operational representative for assigned Health & Wellness Centers and is accountable for achieving organizational performance metrics related to financial performance, operational excellence, quality, patient access, patient satisfaction, physician engagement, workforce engagement, and strategic growth. The position fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and High Reliability Organization principles while supporting the Health & Wellness Centers as the front door to the Hackensack Meridian Health network.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Manager, Health and Wellness Center Site II at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Provides operational leadership for one or more Health & Wellness Centers or a large, highly complex integrated ambulatory care center, ensuring exceptional patient care, operational excellence, financial performance, and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Responsible for the operational and performance of multiple physician practices and ambulatory support services, within the site/s and other ancillary services, ensuring coordinated, efficient, patient-centered care delivery
  • Assists in developing and implementing strategic business and operational plans that support ambulatory growth, physician enterprise initiatives, patient access, market expansion, operational efficiency, and long-term organizational sustainability.
  • Partners with all leadership to identify, evaluate, and implement new programs, service line expansion, capital projects, organizational redesign, and strategic initiatives that strengthen the Health & Wellness Center network.
  • Assists in the development, administration, and performance of annual operating and capital budgets while maintaining accountability for financial performance, labor management, productivity, revenue optimization, expense management, and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Analyzes and provides feedback regarding the financial statements, operating margins, provider productivity, revenue cycle performance, labor utilization, operational metrics, and budget variances to develop strategic action plans that improve financial performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Participates and collaborates with leaders to define the financial development and executive leadership in long-range financial planning, annual budget development, assists by providing information to forecast, capital planning, and resource allocation to support organizational growth and strategic objectives.
  • Builds strong partnerships with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical leadership to improve operational performance, provider productivity, patient access, physician engagement, quality outcomes, and patient satisfaction while supporting physician recruitment, onboarding, retention, and practice growth.
  • Provides leadership and direction to operational leaders and multidisciplinary teams by establishing strategic priorities, promoting accountability, developing future leaders, fostering employee engagement, and creating a culture of collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
  • Participates with leaders to determine the appropriate workforce planning, organizational design, recruitment, succession planning, leadership development, talent management, performance management, employee engagement, and retention strategies that support organizational growth and workforce excellence.
  • Optimizes staffing models, operational workflows, and resource utilization to support patient demand, organizational growth, financial performance, quality outcomes, and exceptional patient care.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, accreditation, regulatory, and organizational requirements while maintaining continuous operational readiness and accountability for survey and accreditation performance.
  • Promotes a culture of patient safety, quality improvement, High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles, and service excellence through oversight of quality metrics, patient experience, regulatory compliance, and operational performance improvement initiatives.
  • Implements complex organizational change initiatives utilizing Lean, High Reliability Organization (HRO), and evidence-based management principles to improve operational efficiency, patient flow, provider productivity, financial performance, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Utilizes operational, financial, quality, workforce, and patient experience data to establish strategic priorities, evaluate organizational performance, support executive decision-making, and drive continuous operational improvement.
  • Represents the Health & Wellness Center network within the community by developing collaborative relationships with physicians, employers, community organizations, and strategic partners while advancing business development, referral growth, market expansion, and downstream utilization initiatives.
  • Serves as the operational liaison between Health & Wellness Centers, Physician Enterprise leadership, hospital leadership, corporate departments, and executive leadership to facilitate communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, and successful execution of enterprise priorities.
  • Participates in system-wide leadership councils, operational committees, strategic planning initiatives, and organizational workgroups that support ambulatory transformation and enterprise performance.
  • Maintains current knowledge of healthcare operations, ambulatory care trends, regulatory requirements, reimbursement methodologies, financial management, and leadership best practices while promoting innovation, professional development, and continuous organizational improvement.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or similar or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible healthcare operations leadership experience, including at least three (3) years managing multi-specialty ambulatory operations, large outpatient facilities, or multiple physician practice locations.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex ambulatory operations, financial stewardship, patient access, physician engagement, provider productivity, workforce engagement, and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated experience managing operating budgets, financial performance, labor productivity, operational analytics, and strategic performance improvement initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple operational teams, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and build collaborative relationships with physicians, executive leadership, and hospital leadership.
  • Strong executive leadership, organizational, analytical, communication, and relationship management skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational change, implementing strategic initiatives, and achieving measurable operational outcomes.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Epic, and healthcare operational reporting systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as FACHE, CMPE, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar healthcare leadership credential.
  • Experience leading regional ambulatory operations, large multi-specialty practices, or integrated outpatient networks.
