About The PositionThe Manager, General Accounting position is responsible for managing the operations of the General Accounting team. The position is responsible for validating that all accounting principles set by Ameren and various regulatory agencies, including the SEC, FERC, and other regulatory jurisdictions are accurately applied. Specifically, this position will lead a team of both management and union coworkers tasked with accounting for various transactions, including billed/unbilled revenue estimates, payroll distribution, service company and other benefit allocations, financing transactions, revenue, as well as managing the monthly close process. The Manager position plays a key role in developing department strategy, including finance transformation, system automation, and process optimization, and representing Finance with segment and digital leaders. This position works under the supervision of the Director, Accounting and has frequent exposure to the Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, and other officers of the Company.
Key responsibilities include: - Review, analyze and interpret complex accounting, financial and statistical data utilized during the monthly and quarterly financial close process.
- Prepare and review accounting research on complex and/or unusual business transactions to develop the corporate accounting position on the transaction, including monitoring the activities of financial and regulatory reporting and accounting standard setting agencies.
- Review customer rate calculations (e.g., regulatory mechanisms), prepare associated testimony and filings, and prepare financial analysis in support of regulatory filings.
- Review areas of subject matter expertise included in external annual and quarterly regulatory filings with the SEC, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and State Public Service Commissions.
- Serve as the cost allocation subject matter expert and primary point of contact for finance and segment leadership providing financial analysis and thought leadership for the organization.
- Leverage Oracle systems to prepare and review system processing for payroll distribution, cost allocations and further optimize the monthly close process, including understanding and managing the business impacts across the organization and financial statements and ensure accuracy of the overall process.
- Drive operational efficiency through continuously improving the end-to-end processes with a focus on process standardization, documentation, optimization, and automation.
- Partner with Digital to assess and prioritize technology requests, diagnose needs, and identify solution options.
- Ensure the governance and compliance requirements for implementing automation technologies are enforced.
- Managing department staff, including development future leaders and performance management.
- Participating in industry task forces to influence, interpret, and implement accounting standards driving industry consensus on key topics
QualificationsBachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required. CPA also required. Advanced Degree preferred. Seven or more years of accounting or relevant experience required. Two or more years supervisory or leadership experience also required. Experience with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, standards and methods required. Reporting experience (e.g. SEC and FERC), finance transformation, Oracle ERP or relevant systems experience required. implementation and/or management of regulatory filings preferred. Familiarity with fuel and power market transactions also preferred.

Demonstrate strong technical subject matter expertise and business acumen.

Compensation Range:$131,900.00 - $204,400.00
At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
