Job Description Summary
The Manager, External Reporting is responsible for managing the preparation and coordination of the Company's SEC filings. This individual will lead the day-to-day execution of the SEC reporting process, including the preparation and review of financial statements, footnote disclosures, MD&A, and other required disclosures, to support timely and accurate filings in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements. This role will research and evaluate financial reporting and disclosure requirements, support the Company's disclosure controls and procedures, and identify opportunities to enhance disclosures and improve reporting processes.

Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the end-to-end preparation and coordination of SEC filings, including quarterly and annual financial statements, footnote disclosures, MD&A, and supporting schedules, in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Oversee external reporting calendars, disclosure checklists, and filing timelines to ensure reporting requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs and partner with stakeholders across the organization to support the external reporting process.
  • Manage, coach, and develop assigned team members. Establish priorities, provide ongoing feedback, and promote a collaborative and high-performing team aligned with the Finance organization's strategy and values.
  • Oversee coordination with external auditors during quarterly reviews, annual audits, and controls testing, including the preparation and review of supporting schedules and responses to auditor requests and comments.
  • Support SOX compliance and internal control activities related to external reporting.
  • Review financial statements and disclosures and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, SOX requirements, and company-specific accounting policies.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance the quality and effectiveness of financial statement disclosures and improve the efficiency of external reporting processes.
  • Support the use and optimization of external reporting technology, including Workiva, to strengthen reporting processes, controls, and collaboration.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience
  • Eight years of accounting/finance experience including three years of supervisory/management experience
  • Strong people management skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, to diverse audiences
  • Organizational and prioritization skills
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, Excel and financial business systems


Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA preferred
  • Public company SEC reporting experience, including preparation of Forms 10-Q and 10-K, and related disclosures and MD&A.
  • Life insurance experience a plus• Experience with Workiva preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in evolving or ambiguous environments, establish priorities and processes, and lead and develop a team.


Working Conditions:
  • Hybrid (In Office: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays)


The Salary for this position generally ranges between $109,000 - $145,000 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company's discretion.
