Job DescriptionThe Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting operations for Brinks North America, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with US GAAP and company policies. This role partners closely with field operations, finance leadership, and corporate teams to support a complex, high-volume environment involving cash management, logistics, and service operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Close- Lead and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses (AP, AR, Prepaids, etc.).
- Analyze financial results and provide insights to senior leadership.
Operational Accounting- Oversee accounting for revenue recognition, cost of services, and operational expenses across multiple locations.
- Partner with operations teams to ensure proper accounting for cash logistics, vault services, and transportation activities.
- Monitor and improve processes around high-volume transactional environments.
- Fleet capitalization (trucks acquisition, sale lease back, repowers, etc.)
Internal Controls & Compliance- Maintain and enhance a strong internal control environment in compliance with SOX requirements.
- Ensure adherence to Brinks' policies, procedures, and audit standards.
- Support internal and external audit processes, including documentation and remediation.
Team Leadership- Manage, develop, and mentor a team of accountants and analysts.
- Driving accountability, performance management, and professional development.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet deadlines and business priorities.
Business Partnership- Collaborate with FP&A, operations, and regional leaders to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Identify cost savings and operational efficiency opportunities.
Systems & Process Improvement- Promote automation and continuous improvement in accounting processes.
- Support ERP and financial system enhancements (e.g., Great Plains, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Implement best practices to improve data accuracy and reporting speed.
QualificationsEducation & Certifications- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- CPA or MBA preferred
Experience- 6-10 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience in large, multi-location or service-based organizations (preferred)
- Prior experience in logistics, transportation, or cash-intensive businesses is a plus
- Management or supervisory experience required
