Position Overview

As our Quality Manager - Field Eddy Current, you will lead the planning, execution, and oversight of all Field Eddy Current inspection activities for BWXT Canada. You will manage personnel, provide technical guidance, coordinate project resources, ensure regulatory compliance, and serve as the primary point of contact for customers and internal partners. This position plays a vital role in the safe, high-quality execution of inspection services.

Your Day-to-Day as Quality Manager - Field Eddy Current

Supervision and Work Structure
  • Report to the Manager, Inspection Services.
  • Lead full-time inspection personnel, supervisors/leads, and contractor teams during field execution.
  • Interface regularly with subcontractors, internal Field Services personnel, and customers.

Technical Leadership and Equipment Management
  • Act as the lead technical resource for Eddy Current inspection issues and challenges.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of inspection technologies, techniques, and processes.
  • Manage inspection equipment, parts, consumables, and prepare justification for new equipment purchases.

Project Planning and Field Execution
  • Support preparation and planning for multiple inspection projects, including scheduling, procedure development, training, equipment procurement, and customer communication.
  • Allocate qualified personnel and coordinate internal and subcontractor resources to meet project needs.
  • Function as the Field Engineer for pre-deployment tasks and on-site execution.


Customer Engagement and Proposal Support
  • Prepare detailed estimates, proposal write-ups, and compliance reviews for inspection/NDE code requirements.
  • Address lessons learned and support customer discussions regarding inspection strategy and issue resolution.


Health, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure all inspection activities comply with occupational health and safety standards, regulated codes, and licensing requirements.
  • Promote and lead safe work practices in field inspection environments.
  • Support the team in meeting BWXT's safety goals.


Risk Management
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, safety, schedule, and resource-related risks across all inspection projects.

Performance Management and Workforce Development
  • Set clear performance expectations for inspection staff aligned with project and company requirements.
  • Conduct regular check-ins, coach employees, and lead performance reviews.
  • Identify training needs, ensure required certifications, and support continuous skill development.
  • Address performance gaps consistently and reinforce high performance.


Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years technical Eddy Current Testing (ECT) experience and 5 years supervisory experience.
  • University degree, technical discipline, or advanced college diploma relevant to inspection and management.
  • CGSB ECT Level 2 certification (minimum).
  • Strong working knowledge of Eddy Current technologies, NDE processes, and field project execution.
  • Experience in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, utilities, or heavy manufacturing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience working with customers or vendors.
  • Understanding of OH&S regulations and safety practices (radiation, confined space, etc.)


Security Clearance:This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) at the start of employment is expected to be between $90,000.00 and $140,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
