Full Job Description
We are seeking a Manager, Events Management, to join our team. The Manager, Events Management is responsible for the management of in-person and hybrid Society conferences and assigned meetings.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Development and management of new and existing events and conferences assigned
  • Responsible for site selection and contract negotiations
  • Requests and evaluates bids from suppliers for meeting facilities, food & beverages, equipment, travel, lodging, etc.
  • Logistics coordination including transportation, hotel specifications, banquet orders, coordination of technical, guest tours, special events, etc.
  • Registration management
  • Maintains oversight of contractors and subcontractors hired for individual events
  • Coordinate the planning, production and marketing procedures with regard to development of promotional literature, including copywriting and meeting supplies
  • Provide on-site conference management and conduct conference evaluations
  • Develop and review, on an on-going basis, the marketing and promotional plan for each event
  • Responsible for budget preparation, monthly accruals, and invoice reconciliation
  • Maintains historical database for each event, including financial information, planning and operations, logistics and attendance
  • Liaise with the conference planning committee and staff members in other directorates and related suppliers
  • Coordinate advertisement, sponsorship, and exhibit programs as they relate to specific events


This role requires a bachelor's degree or additional equivalent work experience and a minimum of 10 years' experience in the meeting planning industry with association experience as a plus.

Additionally, a proven track record of demonstrating knowledge, excellence and practical experience in the following technical and professional skills and competencies is required:

  • Communication - Excellent oral and written presentation


  • Relationship Management - Ability to work well with teams in diverse, complex, and changing environments


  • Problem Solving - Ability to identify key issues, gather data to investigate those issues, and develop actionable recommendations


  • Project Management - A detailed approach and ability to work independently and remain organized in order to meet commitments and balance competing priorities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and financial management
  • Experience with contract negotiations and management


This role is eligible for a remote work arrangement. Periodic business travel may be required, including but not limited to, ASME offices, globally.

Annual base salary may vary based on geographic location. The New York metro salary range for this position is estimated to be between $105,000 - $115,000 per year.
