In this role you will be a valued member of the
Dawson Construction, working in a permanent, full-time position of
Manager, Equipment & Assets, reporting to the
VP, Operations. The Manager of Equipment & Assets is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the life cycle management of all equipment for effective maintenance and repair programs, equipment safety programs, and equipment tracking and utilization. Your base location will be
Kamloops, BC and will require a travel commitment of 20-30%.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE- Responsible for working with the Construction and Civil leadership on creating and implementing an equipment strategy
- Lead the equipment and maintenance team in the delivery of services and support for operations
- Efficiently leads the main maintenance shop and yard in Knutsford, BC
- Implement an electronic management system and coordinate equipment replacement strategies and platforms for maintenance and replacement for a fleet of more than 600 units
- Establishes work policies, schedules, and repair and maintenance standards
- Prepares budget estimates for vehicle and equipment maintenance operations
- Assures compliance with Dawson Group safety requirements and protocols
- Consult and collaborate with stakeholders regarding equipment and procurement strategy
- Collaborates with relevant stakeholders on purchase, rental, or lease decisions
- Oversee equipment warranties and damage reports and manage accordingly
- Conduct equipment procurement and disposal
- Oversee location and movement of equipment between business units
- Manages the corporate National Safety Code, Commercial Vehicle Inspection, and Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations
- Monitor tracking of equipment use, hours, revenues, and expense
- Monitor and manage equipment operating costs
- Maintain records and logs of services performed and general vehicle information; analyzes costs, writes, reports, and prioritizes work orders
WHAT YOU BRING- Bachelor's degree in business management or a related field or Red Seal Trade Certificate and
- Minimum of 5 years asset or material management experience preferably in the equipment rental industry or construction equipment industry; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Strong knowledge in construction equipment maintenance, construction equipment service department operational procedures and processes
- Knowledge of safety standards and practices in a shop environment
- Proficient in Excel & Microsoft Office, asset management software and other relevant ERP applications
- Strong analytical skills
- Knowledge of NetSuite is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
