GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and integration of enterprise-wide software to ensure high availability, security, and alignment with the strategic goals of Chesapeake Public Schools. This position leads IT teams in the design, planning, and optimization of system performance. The Manager acts as a key liaison between technical staff, end-user departments, vendors, and external partners to manage systems and projects, resolve complex technical issues, and ensure seamless data workflows.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversees the functionality, configuration, security, and updates of enterprise systems including core company software (ERP, HCM, SIS, ICM).
- Monitors performance and performs troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Partners with departments to design and implement integrations between disparate systems, ensuring data integrity and efficient workflow automation.
- Provide technical support to and coordinate resource allocation for the Project Management Office.
- Leads IT project initiatives, including vendor selection, requirements gathering, and post-implementation reviews.
- Coordinates timelines and resource allocation across internal teams and external contractors.
- Analyzes business requirements to provide custom reporting, data extraction, and query development.
- Provides technical guidance to department heads regarding specialized system interfaces and analytical tools.
- Supervises, trains, and mentors IT staff, including conducting performance evaluations and assigning work tasks.
- Assists with departmental budget preparation and strategic planning to align IT infrastructure with organizational goals.
- Ensures systems adhere to security and compliance standards, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience (typically 2-5+ years) managing or supporting enterprise-level applications, including deployments, upgrades, patches, and integrations.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing employee performance, and facilitating professional development.
- Proficiency in server-side environments, database development, and modern system design methodologies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture, relational database principles, and data integration techniques.
- Knowledge of and experience with configuring complex business workflows within a SaaS environment.
- Knowledge of system troubleshooting techniques, problem isolation, and system logic to increase operating efficiency.
- Skill in preparing and presenting technical documentation and reports to diverse stakeholders.
- Skill in interpersonal communications and relations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and coordinate across varied departments and external vendors.
- Ability to think logically, pay close attention to detail, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
- This is complex technical work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
