DescriptionNorthrop Grumman Mission Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Manager, Embedded Software 1, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Linthicum, MD and will be on-site.
What You'll Get To Do:
As the Manager, Embedded Software 1, you are responsible for overseeing and coordinating the people, resources and processes required to deliver new software or upgrade existing products. As well as responsible for the leadership of managing people, executing performance reviews, staffing programs, and career development of employees. This is an Engineering Software Manager - 1 role on the Embedded Software Integration and Test Team requiring an average of 10% of the candidate’s effort on functional responsibilities and the other 90% on technical responsibilities associated with a program. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Manager, Embedded Software 1, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Support program in a technical or leadership role, providing technical oversight of design, development, and integration of software components
- Support the team in identifying and addressing impediments to the attainment of goals, including taking action to remove impediments where appropriate
- Drive sustainable continuous improvement, including by collating and deriving insights from data
- Lead the team in applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools using Agile development methodology
- Oversight of staffing, employee development, and continual improvement of engineering practices.
- Applying strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance for yourself and your team.
- Guide the team in compliance with the Internal Software Development Plan (iSDP) and the Agile Development Plan (ADP)
- Leading subordinate department managers in their support of engineering teams with a total organization size of 8+ team members.
- Effective collaboration, communications, and problem solving.
- Demonstrating a commitment to ethics & integrity and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.
- Working with a variety of sites, stakeholders, and functions to achieve outstanding results.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree and 3 years of related experience or a PhD and 1 year of relevant experience.
- US Citizenship
- Must have an active Secret Clearance. Secret Clearance is required to start. Must be able to obtain SAP Access. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance and access for continued employment.
- Must have 5 years experience with embedded C++ SW development
- Must have 3 years experience leading technical teams.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
- Working knowledge of staffing practices, engineering metrics, training resources, agile processes, and engineering tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a STEM discipline.
- Knowledge of Mission Systems and a Software Engineering discipline.
- Proven technical management experience in an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
- Integration experience
- Must have 3 years experience developing in RHEL environment
Primary Level Salary Range: $127,000.00 - $190,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
