Overview

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual for the Manager, Divisional Planning & Coordination role responsible for managing business operations and strategies for the Prevention Services Division, from within the Divisional Strategy and Operations Department. The position provides leadership and direction to assigned staff and is responsible for managing the activities of the assigned area to ensure the effective delivery of services and implementation of WorkSafeBC and divisional goals, priorities and plan.

The incumbent will also be responsible for managing and producing a variety of high-profile and technical reports and updates. This includes statistical work, for internal and external consumption, for varying levels of management and staff that support the strategic and efficient operation of prevention services.

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you will work primarily from our Richmond Office with some flexibility to work from your home in B.C.

What you'll do

As a Manager, Divisional Planning & Coordination, you will:
  • Manage the divisional strategy and operations team to ensure effective delivery of services to the Prevention Services Division.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of strategic project coordination services through oversight and by developing and implementing team business plans to support and achieve the division's strategic objectives.
  • Ensure that WorkSafeBC and Divisional policies, procedures, best practices and standards are appropriately implemented within assigned areas including providing advice, guidance, and direction to assigned staff and others on policies, business plans and operational matters relating to prevention services strategic project support. In some cases, developing standards where there are none.
  • Manage and oversee and provide assurance to ongoing projects, reports, processes and initiatives critical to the team, department, and Prevention Services Division.
  • Divisional communication and coordination including respond to external requests (e.g., Ministry) that may have significant impact on their operations and initiatives
  • Participate as a member of the management team of the Division in business planning activities and provide input into planning and implementing changes and initiatives as required.
  • Manage and direct assigned staff in maintaining high levels of service and in achieving divisional priorities and objectives including hiring, evaluation, discipline, and termination of staff, as required.
  • Manage the financial resources within the allocated budget including planning, developing and administration of the annual operating budget for the assigned area.
  • Collaborate and partner with various stakeholders across the division and organization to ensure the successful delivery of the Prevention Plan and divisional strategies.
  • Consistently models the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.

Your experience and educational background :
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with people manager experience or leading a high performing team
  • Broad knowledge and expertise in project management, occupational health and safety experience is not required but is nice to have
  • And a MBA or Master's university degree in a relevant field (finance, economics, policy, accounting etc.) or a recognized accounting or finance designation (ie CPA, CFA)

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
