Job Description:

The Manager, Distribution Center Analytics & Insights is a Jacksonville-based, onsite role that will lead the team responsible for data, reporting, advanced analytics, and decision support for the Jacksonville Vision Care site, the highest-volume distribution center in the Johnson & Johnson network. The role also provides analytics leadership and support for the Surgical Vision business across North America, with occasional support for global analytics priorities. This leader will translate complex operational, financial, product, and customer data into clear insights that improve service, cost, productivity, inventory performance, and business decisions. The role requires a strong understanding of end-to-end distribution center operations, new product launches, product and cost-to-serve modeling, and an omnichannel customer service environment serving direct-to-patient, retail, distributor, ecommerce, and other customer channels.

In addition to leading day-to-day analytics, the manager will play a critical role in a major operational transformation that includes opening an approximately one-million-square-foot, state-of-the-art distribution center in late 2027 and implementing a new Warehouse Management System (WMS). The successful candidate will combine analytics leadership, operational credibility, and disciplined change management to help design the future-state analytics ecosystem, prepare users for new tools and processes, support go-live readiness, and stabilize performance after deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Analytics Strategy, Governance & Decision Support
  • Set the analytics strategy and delivery roadmap for the Jacksonville Vision Care site and North America Surgical Vision business, while supporting selected global analytics priorities as needed; align priorities with Operations, Customer Service, Transportation, Finance, Commercial, New Product Introduction, Quality, Engineering, and Technology partners.
  • Lead the design and governance of dashboards, scorecards, data products, models, and recurring business reviews that provide a trusted view of Jacksonville Vision Care operations, North America Surgical Vision performance, and relevant global analytics needs.
  • Establish common data definitions, ownership, controls, and quality standards across source systems to improve accuracy, traceability, compliance, and confidence in decisions.
  • Translate complex analyses into concise recommendations, scenarios, and executive-ready narratives that clearly identify business impact, risks, tradeoffs, and required actions.
  • Prioritize the analytics portfolio based on customer value, operational risk, financial return, regulatory requirements, and available team capacity.

Distribution Center Performance & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide actionable insights across inbound, receiving, put-away, replenishment, inventory control, order release, picking, packing, shipping, returns, and exception management.
  • Monitor and analyze performance indicators including throughput, order cycle time, on-time and in-full service, productivity, capacity utilization, inventory accuracy, backlogs, defects, and customer-impacting exceptions.
  • Partner with site leaders to identify constraints, conduct root-cause analysis, test improvement opportunities, and quantify the operational and financial value of proposed changes.
  • Develop predictive and scenario-based analytics for labor, capacity, volume, inventory, peak planning, and operational risk.
  • Build self-service capabilities and standard work that enable frontline and functional leaders to use data consistently in daily management and continuous improvement routines.

New Product Launches, Costing & Omnichannel Insights
  • Provide analytics leadership for new product launches, including volume and entitlement modeling, item and master-data readiness, slotting and capacity implications, launch dashboards, early-life monitoring, and post-launch stabilization.
  • Develop and maintain product costing, distribution cost, and cost-to-serve analyses that improve visibility to fixed and variable cost drivers across products, order profiles, channels, and customers.
  • Partner with Finance and Commercial teams to evaluate profitability, service options, channel strategies, and investment decisions using transparent assumptions and scenario models.
  • Integrate distribution, transportation, inventory, order management, and customer service data to create an end-to-end view of the customer experience.
  • Identify differences in demand patterns, service expectations, fulfillment economics, and operational requirements across direct-to-patient, retail, distributor, ecommerce, and other channels.

Transformation, WMS & Change Leadership
  • Serve as the analytics lead for the new distribution center and WMS transformation, defining the future-state data, reporting, KPI, integration, governance, and decision-support requirements.
  • Partner with Operations, Technology, system integrators, Engineering, Finance, and functional teams to translate business needs into requirements, acceptance criteria, data models, reports, and scalable analytics solutions.
  • Support data migration, validation, testing, cutover planning, go-live readiness, command-center visibility, hypercare, and post-implementation stabilization.
  • Assess the people, process, data, and technology impacts of new tools; develop stakeholder, communication, training, adoption, and reinforcement plans that build confidence and sustained use.
  • Create readiness and adoption measures, collect user feedback, identify resistance or capability gaps, and adjust enablement plans based on evidence.
  • Protect continuity of customer service and operational performance during implementation by identifying analytics dependencies, reporting gaps, and transition risks early and driving mitigation plans.

People Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of analytics professionals, establishing clear priorities, ownership, service expectations, and development plans.
  • Build capabilities in data engineering, business intelligence, advanced analytics, storytelling, operational problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Balance recurring operational support for the Jacksonville Vision Care site with North America Surgical Vision and occasional global analytics requests, ensuring urgent business needs are addressed without compromising the strategic analytics roadmap.
  • Influence senior leaders and cross-functional partners through facts, clear options, and a strong understanding of business and operational realities.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, experimentation, simplification, inclusion, compliance, and continuous learning.

  • Demonstrated change management experience supporting the introduction and adoption of new systems, digital tools, processes, or operating models.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, prioritization, stakeholder management, and talent development skills.

  • Working knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, SQL, Python, cloud data platforms, data catalogs, or equivalent technologies.
  • Certification or practical experience in change management, Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or project management.

Key Success Measures

  • Improved service, productivity, cost, inventory, and customer experience outcomes attributable to analytics-led actions.
  • Clear financial visibility across products, customers, order profiles, and fulfillment channels.
