Job Summary

As a manager of disability benefits you'll supervise a section of personnel and activities to ensure timely, accurate and thoroughly investigated disability decisions and ongoing management of claim liability, benefit payments, taxation of benefits, deductible income pursuit and reserve data.
  • Supervise section personnel for claim decisions on new and continuing disability claims, customer service, management of policyholder accounts, and other customer needs.
  • Implement intervention and reporting strategies in response to sales, marketing and client needs and claim trends
  • Promote effective working relationships with Group Sales and Marketing, Special Accounts, Underwriting, and other operating units to install, service and retain existing accounts and contribute to the sale of new accounts.


Skills and Background You'll Need

Education: Degree in Science, Business or related field is highly preferred. Additional experience may substitute in lieu of degree.

Experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience in employee benefits with an emphasis on disability claim and leave administration and related product and service issues
  • At least 2 years of experience in a related industry leadership role.
  • Experience managing projects, resources, processes that include automation on offshore resources.
  • Proven expertise in data and report management and presenting to groups, customers, and senior and executive leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge of managed disability and claim management principles.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.


The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.

Salary Range:
$97,750.00 - $156,250.00
