Full Job Description
Job Purpose: Sony Music Publishing's Investment Management and Analysis department oversees the financial review of all deal making worldwide and ensures the company's investments meet appropriate risk/return thresholds. The Manager, Deal Analysis position will be an integral member of the Deal Analysis team in New York and an active participant in the investment analysis process.

What You'll Do:
  • Prepare cash flow valuations for new catalog acquisitions and other signings (IRR/NPV).
  • Collaborate closely with Business Affairs, A&R, and Finance departments to prepare and provide detailed deal analysis documentation to support deal negotiations and senior management approval.
  • Assist in due diligence work in preparation for execution of catalog acquisitions.
  • Assist with historical trend analysis for songwriter deals and catalog acquisitions to identify trends and capture insights.
  • Automate the generation and distribution of ongoing stakeholder reports by leveraging SQL and business intelligence platforms.
  • Query and analyze complex data from internal copyright and royalty system, as well as industry resources such as Luminate and Mediabase.
  • Maintain and update internal departmental databases and records related to deal analyses (as required).
  • Contribute to development and review of internal analytical tools.
  • Prepare or assist with ad-hoc analyses, as assigned by management.
  • Ability to work extended hours if the need arises.


Who You Are:
  • 3 or more years of music industry-related experience within financial modeling or business development
  • Must have advanced Excel skills with working knowledge of pivot tables and data analysis. Must also have general computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with database applications and coding language strongly preferred
  • Strong research, analytical and math skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, think spontaneously and meet deadlines
  • Experience with music publishing finance, legal, and/or administration preferred
  • BS/BA degree with a major in Music Business, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • 7.5-hour business workday but variations in work volume frequently require extended working hours for evening and late-night events

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is:
$73,800.00-$105,400.00
This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
