Job Description

In this position...
  • As a Manager in the Customer Data, Analysis & Tools group, you will do more than just "pull data" - you will be a champion for our team's insights. You will sit at the intersection of complex analytics and strategic decision-making, helping Ford's leadership understand the "so what" behind our market segmentation map and extensive customer data stack.
  • We are looking for a dedicated, curious, and outcome-oriented professional who is proficient in data tools but excels at storytelling. You will be a key partner, ensuring our enterprise-wide customer framework is not only technically sound but also clearly understood and utilized across Corporate Strategy, Product Development, General Management, and Marketing.
  • This hybrid Dearborn, MI based position requires a detail-oriented, creative technologist, comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment, and able to work with a variety of internal and external clients and vendors.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
  • Lead Analytical Workstreams: Manage the full data lifecycle - from defining the business question to data hygiene and executing cluster/segmentation models. Specific examples include:
    • Executing complex analysis of survey data.
    • Integrating research findings with desk research sources, including but not limited to the New Vehicle Customer Survey (NVCS), S&P, and Ford internal customer data (Customer 360 / GPS).
    • Democratizing customer data by creating dashboards to share findings.
    • Developing customer segmentation models and survey screeners.
    • Managing both company-sponsored and syndicated research data.
    • Managing relationships with research and data vendors.
  • Extract the "So What": Transform complex market research and syndicated data (NVCS, S&P, GPS) into compelling narratives that drive action.
    • Actively engage with internal customers (Strategy, PD, Marketing) to ensure they understand how to use our tools and data to make evidence-based decisions.
  • Create Compelling Deliverables: Design high-quality presentation materials and dashboards (Power BI) that distill analytical journeys into clear stories for executive audiences.
  • Collaborate Globally: Support teams in domestic and international markets (China, Europe, IMG), ensuring their exploratory needs are met by our analytical frameworks.

Qualifications

You'll have...
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related).
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in market research, data science, or advanced analytics, preferably within a product planning or consumer insights environment.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • 2+ years of experience with SAS or other statistical analytic software (e.g. SPSS, R, Python) with a willingness to learn and work in the SAS software environment.
    • 1+ years of experience using Structured Query Language (SQL), or experience in a cloud computing environment (e.g. Google Cloud Platform).
    • Familiarity with data visualization software (i.e. Power BI).
  • Analytical Communication: Demonstrated ability to translate statistical results into "plain English" for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ownership Mindset: A high degree of ownership and a "self-starter" attitude; someone who takes pride in their work and is dependable when navigating critical project milestones.

Even better, you may have...
  • Master's degree (MBA or MS in a quantitative field).
  • Storytelling Expertise: Advanced experience crafting visual content and engaging presentations for leadership.
  • Strategic Acumen: Knowledge of the automotive industry and/or experience with customer segmentation in complex industries.
  • Problem Solving: Strong marketing business acumen with experience applying statistical analytic techniques to solve business problems.
  • Market Research: Familiarity with quantitative market research principles and practices.
  • Technical Depth: Proficiency in data science programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and multivariate statistics (regression, factor analysis, etc.). Familiarity with SAS is a plus. Key competencies include:
    • Data Manipulation: Expertise in cleaning, merging, and preparing large datasets for analysis (e.g., efficient use of SAS DATA steps or Python/Pandas).
    • Reporting & Visualization: Ability to automate the delivery of insights and format professional reports (e.g., leveraging SAS ODS, Power BI, or similar).
    • Automation & Efficiency: Experience building modular, reusable code and automation scripts to streamline workflows (e.g., SAS Macros or custom functions/libraries).
    • Statistical Modeling: Hands-on experience with model development and scoring using statistical procedures (e.g., SAS/STAT, Scikit-learn, or similar)
