Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of 7-8 engineers, architects, and project managers, fostering growth, accountability, and collaboration
- Oversee the full lifecycle of 200-250 projects annually, from planning and procurement through construction and closeout
- Manage project budgets, contracts, and delivery methods to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope
- Apply architectural and engineering expertise to solve complex building and infrastructure challenges
- Ensure compliance with state building codes, SCO policies, OSHA standards, and UNC System guidelines
- Align project priorities with institutional goals by providing clear communication and leadership across design teams, contractors, and campus stakeholders.
- Support long-term planning efforts while maintaining focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Analyze and resolve project challenges, implementing creative and cost-effective solutions while maintaining safety and quality standards
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices, driving continuous improvement and innovation in project delivery
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, designers, campus partners, and university leadership
- Support long-range planning efforts and contribute to the overall development and success of campus infrastructure
Other Responsibilities - Working conditions are in the office and outside around building construction
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree related to the area of assignment and two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications - Strong knowledge of engineering and/or architectural principles with the ability to apply them to complex facilities and infrastructure challenges
- Ability to evaluate the university's built environment holistically, including space, utilities, and infrastructure capacity, and provide feasibility assessments and preliminary cost estimates
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and project delivery approaches, including the ability to recommend effective execution strategies
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, sequencing, and cost estimating practices across a wide range of project types
Preferred Qualifications - Five or more years of experience in construction project management
- Supervisory experience preferred
Required License(s) or Certification(s) - Valid Driver's License required
- Must be able to obtain a valid North Carolina driver's license within 60 days of hire and must be maintained
