Full Job Description

As a Manager, Project Management - Construction Services, you will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities supporting capital, expense, and maintenance projects. You will provide field leadership and construction expertise to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Pfizer standards, regulatory requirements, and project objectives. Your ability to integrate contractors, project teams, and site stakeholders will directly contribute to successful project delivery and operational excellence.

What You Will Achieve

In this role, you will serve as the primary field representative responsible for coordinating construction activities and overseeing contractor execution for facility, utility, infrastructure, manufacturing, laboratory, and support projects. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, with high quality, and in alignment with approved scope, schedule, and budget commitments.

You will leverage your construction management expertise to identify and mitigate project risks, improve field execution, and foster collaboration among project stakeholders while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational readiness.

How You Will Achieve It

Lead Construction Execution and Field Coordination

  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day construction activities for assigned capital, expense, and maintenance projects.
  • Monitor contractor performance against project scope, schedule, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Support project execution through effective work planning, site logistics coordination, and multi-trade interface management.
  • Ensure alignment between project design requirements and field implementation.
  • Identify and resolve construction-related issues that may impact project delivery.

Manage Contractor Relationships and Performance

  • Serve as the primary field interface between Pfizer and construction contractors.
  • Oversee contractor execution to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, site procedures, and Pfizer standards.
  • Review and facilitate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, field clarifications, and change requests.
  • Evaluate contractor resource needs and workforce loading to support project schedules.
  • Participate in contractor selection and onboarding activities as required.
  • Support the development, negotiation, and administration of Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and project-specific construction contracts.
  • Monitor contractor productivity and implement corrective actions when necessary.

Champion Safety, Quality, and Compliance

  • Ensure all construction activities comply with Pfizer Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, OSHA regulations, and site-specific policies.
  • Participate in job hazard analyses, safety observations, risk assessments, and contractor safety audits.
  • Promote a strong safety culture focused on incident prevention and continuous improvement.
  • Support construction quality programs, including installation verification, quality inspections, testing activities, and punch-list management.
  • Ensure construction activities support cGMP compliance requirements where applicable.

Support Project Controls and Delivery Excellence

  • Provide construction expertise during project planning, design development, and execution phases.
  • Identify constructability concerns and recommend mitigation strategies to improve project outcomes.
  • Track field progress and communicate schedule status, project risks, and key performance indicators to stakeholders.
  • Support project teams with cost management, change control, schedule integration, forecasting, and milestone tracking.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to ensure timely issue resolution and decision making.

Maintain Documentation and Reporting Excellence

  • Develop and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, field logs, progress updates, and construction records.
  • Support project turnover, commissioning, qualification, and closeout activities.
  • Ensure project documentation meets regulatory, compliance, and audit-readiness requirements.
  • Provide clear and timely communication regarding project status, risks, and performance metrics.

Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, EHS, Quality, Manufacturing, Validation, and Operations teams.
  • Facilitate communication among stakeholders to ensure project objectives and site priorities remain aligned.
  • Support effective integration of project activities with ongoing site operations.

Advance Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve construction execution efficiency, contractor performance, and site construction management processes.
  • Support implementation of standardized construction practices, tools, and best practices across the site.
  • Contribute to lessons learned reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Here Is What You Need (Basic Requirements)

Education

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 4 yearsofexperience; OR a master's degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR
  • a PhD with 0+ years of experience; OR as associate's degree with 8 years
    of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of
    relevant experiencein Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, project execution, facilities engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience managing contractors and field construction activities on capital, expense, or maintenance projects.
  • Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, utility, or highly regulated environments.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of construction execution, field coordination, and contractor management practices.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and manage engineering drawings, construction documents, and specifications.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing, work packaging, and project execution methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project controls principles, including schedule management, cost tracking, earned value concepts, and change management.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements and construction safety practices.

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)

  • Experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, food manufacturing, or other GMP-regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of cGMP requirements and validation processes.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, PE, CHST, OSHA certifications, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, qualification, and startup activities.
  • Knowledge of contractor procurement, contract administration, and MSA management.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $116,000.00 to $193,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer27s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
