Full Job Description

About the Role

We're looking for a Manager, Commercial Finance to support the financial operations of our publishing and media businesses within Gallery Media Group, including brands such as PureWow and Coveteur.

This role will serve as a key financial partner to business and operational teams, with responsibility across revenue management, budgeting, forecasting, billing, and financial operations. The ideal candidate understands how the financial and operational sides of a media or publishing business work together and can effectively manage the financial lifecycle of revenue-generating business areas.

You'll work cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, Shared Services, Treasury, and business stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective budget management, timely invoicing and collections, and visibility into overall financial performance.

What You'll Do
  • Own and support revenue management, budgeting, and forecasting across assigned publishing/media businesses and revenue streams.
  • Manage monthly revenue recognition and forecasting, partnering closely with Accounting throughout the month-end close process.
  • Monitor budgets, actuals, costs, and financial performance, identifying variances and providing actionable financial insights to business leaders.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand financial needs, commercial priorities, and the financial impact of business decisions.
  • Manage and track the end-to-end invoicing process, from invoice creation through client payment, ensuring revenue is accurately and timely recognized.
  • Partner with Accounts Receivable and Treasury to monitor outstanding receivables, analyze aging, and help resolve overdue payments.
  • Review budgets, contracts, scopes of work (SOWs), purchase orders, and payment terms to ensure financial and billing accuracy.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable and Shared Services to ensure vendor payments and purchase-order processes are completed accurately.
  • Support financial planning related to staffing, resource allocation, headcount/staff costs, and business expenses.
  • Handle financial and workforce information with appropriate discretion, including confidential employee and staffing data.
  • Participate in business and project wrap-up processes to ensure revenue, receivables, payables, and work-in-progress items are appropriately reconciled and closed.
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis related to revenue, profitability, budgets, costs, forecasting, and staffing.
  • Develop strong cross-functional relationships and clearly communicate financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

What We're Looking For
  • 3 to 5+ years of relevant finance experience, ideally within publishing, digital media, media, or a related content-driven business.
  • Strong experience in Commercial Finance, Client Finance, Financial Operations, or a closely related function.
  • Hands-on experience managing revenue, budgets, and forecasts with an understanding of how financial performance connects to business operations.
  • Experience with revenue recognition, invoicing/billing, accounts receivable, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with business stakeholders rather than operating solely within a traditional corporate finance function.
  • Exposure to staffing/resource allocation, headcount planning, labor costs, or workforce-related financial planning is highly valued.
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable commercial ERP system.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly and partner diplomatically across teams.
  • Ability to work independently while also operating effectively as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.

The Ideal Candidate

You may be a particularly strong fit if you've worked in a publishing or digital media organization where you were responsible for the financial performance of a business unit, portfolio, publication, or group of revenue streams.

You understand more than just financial reporting-you understand the commercial lifecycle of the business, from budgets and forecasts through revenue, billing, costs, collections, and profitability.

You're comfortable working directly with non-finance stakeholders, asking the right questions, identifying financial risks or discrepancies, and helping teams make better-informed business decisions.

Unsure if you meet the qualifications? We are always looking for talent which will continue to cultivate an inclusive and representative team that will enhance our perspectives, skill sets, background, and behaviors. We encourage those who are passionate about what we do to apply!
  • Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
  • Employer-sponsored 401k with match
  • Medical, Dental, and vision coverage
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Caregiver (Parental) Leave
  • Health and Wellness benefits
