Manager Commercial Banking Advisor

What is the opportunity?

This leadership role drives the Commercial Banking Advisor(CBA) team to deliver on Commercial Financial Services' strategic business priorities. The Manager, Commercial Banking Advisors actively coaches the team with the intention of developing a high level of employee capability and engagement. Working closely with all RBC partners, the ability to build strong relationships is an important element of this role. Due to the collaboration involved in building these relationships, mobility within the region.

What will you do?

  • Ensure CBA Team is supported to deliver on acquiring new clients and helping existing clients meet their growth goals.


  • Strategize with CBA about potential opportunities, leveraging discovery techniques, on-boarding training, and Business Service Reviews


  • Provide coaching to enable delivery of the RBC advice promise, matching solutions to client needs.


  • Develop and coach on opportunities to meet client needs and market plan for the team to support the overall Business unit goals and adjust activities as required.


  • Conduct effective sales management routines tailored to bring value to each team member, while maintaining a forward-looking view. Focus on key behaviors and activities to move referral opportunities forward and win business.


  • Coach team members to maximize the use of technology to follow through on all client strategies, sales activities, and opportunities, as well as, to build corporate memory and enable the continuity of client servicing.


  • Coach team to share responsibility with Commercial Account Managers for robust client relationships built upon strong contact management routines.


What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Proven sales leadership skills, including the ability to lead employees through organizational change.


  • Demonstrated ability to grow the business through effective partnering activities.


  • Strong relationship builder: able to establish both internal and external working relationships in order to identify and implement strategies for business growth.


  • Strong business and organizational knowledge, planning and implementing capabilities with a knowledge/experience across Commercial Financial Services within region supported, including sales and account management, direct sales, and operational expertise.


  • Demonstrated passion for putting clients first and the ability to impact and influence sales leaders, employees and partners.


  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills and commitment to ongoing learning


Nice-to-have

  • Commercial Banking experience in an Account Management or Associate role


  • Previous people management experience within the financial services industry is preferred as well as experience leading remote teams.


  • Understanding of cash management product & services


  • Knowledge of business banking products, services and delivery/fulfillment channels would be an asset.
