Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of progressive coding experience, including supervisory roles
• Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience
• Mandatory coding certification from recognized organization (e.g., AAPC, AHIMA)
• Preferred knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and billing regulations
• Understanding of Medicare and NCCI guidelines, insurance limitations, and managed care protocols

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and oversee daily operations of coding staff to ensure accurate patient record coding
• Develop and maintain coding guidelines, monitoring relevant department reports
• Generate reports and manage training for coding staff
• Hire staff, assign work, and assess team quality and productivity
• Audit coding accuracy and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
• Coordinate staff training and develop educational in-services
• Educate medical staff on documentation opportunities and manage coding updates
