Job Summary:

The Manger- Scheduling is responsible for optimizing the reloadable bulk transportation assets in assigned region by communication with terminals, local dispatchers, drivers, and third party logistics providers. Strategize with department director on vision and implementation of better practices. Serve as an example to the rest of the Scheduling team and assist in the high level management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of the Central Scheduling/Planning team
  • Prioritize freight based on available truck capacity
  • Accept or reject freight based on regional network balance
  • Support company and affiliate operations by planning, dispatching, and recovering freight
  • Work closely with terminal dispatchers and leadership to both cover their available freight and utilize available assets
  • Optimize the reloadable network by decreasing empty miles travelled.
  • Strategize with leadership at the OTR Dispatch Center and the Departmental Director on how to improve operational utility as well as meet and exceed company objectives
  • Miscellaneous tasks as assigned

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership skills, with a background in management in the transportation Industry
  • 3+ years in the transportation industry; bulk chemical a plus, but not required
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite to track information/data, generate reports, and provide KPI's to departmental leadership
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Dispatch, planning, and leadership experience
  • Adaptable, skilled at evaluating options, and generating solutions
  • Prior experience with TMW and Isaac fleet management software a plus
  • Google Apps knowledge a plus

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate's Degree or comparable relevant work experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred


Additional Job Information

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.


Travel Requirements: 25%
