Key Responsibilities: With United Cargo growing to over $2B in revenue the operational support needs have grown as well. As the leading belly carrier in the world, United needs to stay ahead of the competition in analytics. The Manager of Cargo Ops Analytics will lead a team that owns operations analytics for United Cargo. This position is ultimately responsible for identifying the right operational levers to pull to drive cost savings across the board. From creating new data sources from scratch, integrating countless data sets, managing data projects, and building reliable reporting for both internal and external customers, this position is the key lead in all aspects of data analytics for cargo operations. With a cost structure of over $300M, having proper tracking and protocol is competitively, financially, and regulatorily necessary for business. The responsibilities include financial analysis, logistical analysis, cost oversight of $100M+ RFS and ULD budget, vendor management, operational performance metrics, and external vendor performance metrics. Additionally, this position will have to balance the many ad hoc projects that come up within Cargo, support with operations projects, and drive capital finance projects. It is a full-time, permanent role within Cargo. The ideal candidate will lead an analytical team of resources within the $2B United Cargo operation.
- Manage a team to influence Senior Leadership in United through analytical-derived insights provided to the operation and finance.
- Increase adoption of analytics reporting, dashboards, and software across all of United Cargo
- Oversee, forecast, and process payments for the $100M+ RFS and ULD budget
- Own Service Level Agreement Metrics on $200M in cargo handling spend, enforcing operational standard on United partners
- Manage ad-hoc analysis and reporting for the $250M+ United Cargo operation
Note: This is a Chicago-based hybrid role with in-office requirements 50% of the time.
Qualifications What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications): - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or related degree
- 4+ years' experience in Business, Finance, Analytics, Logistics, or related field
- Strong analytical software skills, including experience with some of the following programs/languages: SQL, Python, MATLAB, STAT, R, Alteryx, Spotfire, Tableau
- Very strong MS Excel and PowerPoint Skills
- Negotiation, effective communication, knowledge of contract language, building business relationships, work under time constraints
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
