We are seeking a strategic and commercially driven leader to lead all aspects of the commercial success of our crude gathering business. As the Manager Business Development, you will be responsible for developing and executing the long-term commercial strategy for our gathering system, driving revenue growth, optimizing asset utilization, and strengthening customer relationships across the Permian Basin.

This role serves as a key link between producers, marketers, operations, engineering, and executive leadership, ensuring our gathering assets are positioned as the preferred transportation solution in one of North America's most dynamic energy markets. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of negotiating complex commercial agreements, originating growth opportunities, and translating market intelligence into actionable business strategies.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future growth and commercial direction of a premier crude gathering system in the Permian Basin. You will play a critical role in influencing strategy, driving business performance, and creating long-term value within a dynamic and growing organization.

What You Will Do:
  • Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the crude gathering system, driving revenue growth, market positioning, asset optimization, and long-term value creation.
  • Lead the negotiation and management of complex commercial agreements, including acreage dedications, transportation, throughput, connection, and swap agreements with producers, marketers, and strategic partners.
  • Identify, evaluate, and execute growth opportunities, including system expansions, well connects, interconnects, joint ventures, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Value Chain Optimization (VCO), Corporate Development, and executive leadership to align commercial commitments with business objectives, optimize performance, and ensure contractual compliance.
Who You Are:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in upstream and/or midstream oil and gas, with a strong background in commercial, business development, marketing, or related functions.
  • Deep understanding of crude oil markets, pipeline operations, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Extensive experience with acreage dedications, crude oil marketing, and producer/wellhead economics.
  • Proven success negotiating and closing complex midstream agreements, particularly within crude gathering and transportation.
  • Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, market insight, and analytical capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify ambiguous opportunities, develop innovative solutions, and convert market intelligence into executable business plans.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while exercising sound judgment, prioritizing effectively, and delivering results.
Preferred
  • Established network within the Permian Basin producer and midstream community.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to: Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.

Working Conditions:

Office environment with moderate travel required

Salary Ranges from $165,000 - 205,000 USD for US locations based upon candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity.
