Job DescriptionPurpose Join our Data & Analytics team as the Manager of BI & Data Engineering, owning the strategic direction and hands-on architecture of our Microsoft Fabric platform. This role leads a team of BI developers and data engineers, driving the full lifecycle of report development, production support, and data integration solutions. The ideal candidate is a technically strong leader with deep expertise across Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and modern data engineering practices, capable of translating business needs into scalable, governed, and production-ready data solutions.
Location- Role provides the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, working both virtually and in the Houston office when required.
ResponsibilitiesFunctionsESSENTIAL
- Serve as the platform architect and technical owner for the organization's Microsoft Fabric platform, overseeing its architecture, standards, and governance.
- Manage, mentor, and lead the BI and Data Engineering team, directing delivery and execution of report development, report production support, and data integration/data warehouse solutions built on Microsoft Fabric.
- Own end-to-end delivery of Power BI report development, enhancement, and production support, ensuring reports meet business requirements and performance standards.
- Architect, build, and maintain data integration pipelines and data warehouses using Microsoft Fabric capabilities including Data Factory, Data Pipelines, Lakehouse, and Data Engineering tools.
- Define and enforce Fabric platform standards, including workspace governance, capacity management, naming conventions, and CI/CD practices.
- Develop and maintain Python-based scripts and notebooks for data transformation, automation, and analytics within Fabric.
- Build and deploy machine learning models using Fabric's data science tools to support predictive analytics initiatives.
- Partner with Data Governance teams to integrate Microsoft Purview with Microsoft Fabric, supporting data cataloging, lineage, sensitivity labeling, and compliance.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT leadership to translate business requirements into scalable BI and data engineering solutions.
- Monitor platform performance and capacity utilization, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement of BI and data engineering practices.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of BI and Data engineers and solution builders.
QualificationsQualificationsREQUIRED
- Minimum 10 years of experience working with Microsoft BI tools, including Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Power BI.
- Minimum 2 years of experience architecting and administering Microsoft Fabric platforms, including Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Data Factory, and Data Pipelines.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Power BI report development, including data modeling, DAX, and semantic models.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in data engineering, including building and maintaining data integration pipelines and data warehouses.
- Minimum 1 years experience in Python for scripting, data transformation, and automation.
- Minimum 2 years of experience developing and deploying machine learning models using Fabric's data science tools.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing or leading a BI and/or Data Engineering team.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
DESIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview, including integrating Purview with Microsoft Fabric for data governance, cataloging, and compliance.
- Microsoft Fabric or Power BI certification(s).
- Experience with CI/CD practices and DevOps for Fabric deployments.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, security, and access control models within Fabric.
- Experience with Fabric capacity management and workspace governance.
Working ConditionsThis position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.
- Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
- Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace.
- Work surface is stable (flat).
