Job Description:

We are seeking an Analytics Manager to lead a high‑impact team embedded within the Accounting / Business Insights organization of Caterpillar's Excavation Division. This role sits at the intersection of finance, analytics, and business strategy, translating complex data into insights that influence executive decision‑making and operational performance.

You will lead a team delivering analytics, reporting, and automation solutions that improve visibility, scalability, and speed across the organization. In addition to delivery, you will help shape analytics standards, governance, and ways of working as the function continues to mature.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with senior leaders to identify, size, and prioritize analytics opportunities that drive measurable business and financial outcomes.

  • Lead and develop an analytics team, providing direction on problem framing, methodology, and solution design.

  • Translate business questions into analytical approaches, balancing speed, rigor, and scalability.

  • Oversee analytics delivery, including dashboards, models, and automation solutions, ensuring insights are actionable and trusted.

  • Establish governance and best practices for analytics and digital solutions, including data quality, documentation, and reuse.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations by clearly defining scope, timelines, and success measures for analytics initiatives.

  • Monitor and communicate key performance indicators, trends, and risks to leadership in a clear, executive‑ready manner.

What You Bring

This role is best suited for a leader who is equally comfortable with data, people, and business conversations.

Analytics & Technical Foundation

  • Strong grounding in business statistics and analytical methods, with the ability to interpret results and explain implications to non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Experience using a range of analytical tools and data sources to solve ambiguous business problems.

  • Practical experience with reporting, dashboards, and automation (tools may vary; mindset matters more than a specific stack).

Business & Strategic Acumen

  • Ability to connect analytics work to financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic priorities.

  • Experience working across functions and advising leaders on trade‑offs, risks, and opportunities.

  • Ability to understand business partner needs, communicate clearly, and support the team in delivering solutions that meet those needs

Leadership & Influence

  • Proven experience leading and developing analytical talent, including coaching on problem‑solving and communication.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and influence decisions through data.

  • A track record of driving change, innovation, or capability uplift within a team or function.

Why This Role

  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and strategic decisions.

  • Opportunity to shape an evolving analytics capability within a global finance organization.

  • Broad scope across analytics, automation, governance, and people leadership—ideal for a high‑potential analytics leader looking to expand influence beyond pure technical delivery.
