Manager, Advanced R&D

Job Summary

Lead a high-performing interdisciplinary technical team with up to 10 direct reports to support advanced scientific research and development activities across one or multiple scientific disciplines. Apply deep technical expertise, rigorous scientific methods, and compliance with global quality and regulatory requirements to develop, validate, and sustain scientific solutions that support organizational objectives. Collaborate across functions to provide scientific expertise, advance technical excellence, address technical challenges, and guide and mentor scientific staff. Communicate program progress, risks, and opportunities to leadership and relevant external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute complex scientific research, method development, and analysis across single or multiple scientific disciplines to generate high-quality, reliable data supporting program objectives.
  • Lead a high-performing scientific team, setting clear expectations, developing talent, and ensuring delivery of high-quality, compliant scientific work.
  • Plan and conduct technically challenging research programs from feasibility through validated outcomes, interpreting data and translating findings into actionable insights.
  • Develop, validate, and transfer analytical, chemical, or microbiological methods while ensuring robust documentation and adherence to applicable standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to provide scientific expertise, influence project direction, and ensure alignment with business, quality, and compliance needs.
  • Lead laboratory operations including equipment qualification, data review, technical reporting, and maintenance of a compliant scientific environment.
  • Provide formal guidance and mentoring of lower level scientists, review technical work, and contribute to building a high-performing scientific team.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance scientific processes, methodologies, and data quality.


Education and Experience Requirements
  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related scientific field with minimum 8 years of experience in a regulated scientific or laboratory environment.
  • PhD with equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading or supervising scientific or technical staff.


Role and Competencies Requirements
  • Knowledge of regulatory and quality requirements including FDA, ISO, and laboratory compliance expectations.
  • Proficiency in relevant laboratory and scientific techniques and methodologies.
  • Ability to lead teams through coaching, clarity of expectations, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong experimental design, documentation, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple scientific initiatives with accountability for quality and compliance.
  • Domestic and international travel up to 20%.

This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.

Pay Range
The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 131,215 -219,075
