Position Summary Centennial College is seeking a collaborative, relational, and visionary administrator to lead Student Accessible Learning Services and advance accessibility across the institution. Reporting to senior leadership, the incumbent will play a pivotal role in shaping an inclusive, barrier free college environment that supports equitable learning, student wellbeing, and institutional excellence.
This position provides strategic leadership that strengthens Centennial's commitment to accessibility by integrating Universal Design for Learning (UDL), ensuring compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and fostering a culture where students with disabilities can thrive. The incumbent will champion accessibility across academic, operational, and physical environments; build institutional capacity through education and partnership; and represent the College in provincial and national accessibility initiatives.
Through this work, the role positions the Centre for Accessible Learning and Counselling Services (CALCS) as a sector leader in accessible postsecondary education and ensures Centennial continues to embed accessibility into its identity, planning, and student experience.
Responsibilities - Provide leadership and supervision to departmental staff, including support staff, and the Accessibility and UDL Lead, ensuring effective performance management and adherence to collective agreements.
- Oversee Accessible Learning Services delivery across all campuses, ensuring consistent intake processes, service standards, delivery modes, and referral pathways.
- Provide subject matter expertise and consultation to accessible learning staff, including support staff and counsellors.
- Establish service priorities and staffing plans to ensure appropriate coverage and workflow in collaboration with the Coordinator of Accessible Learning.
- Collect, analyze, and report program data to support evidence based decision making, operational planning, KPI monitoring, and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Manage departmental budgets and funding envelopes including forecasting, grant revenue, and reporting for Students Apprentices with Disabilities and the Accessibility Fund for Students with Disabilities.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements including confidentiality, AODA standards, and institutional accessibility obligations.
- Maintain and update institutional policies and departmental procedures to support operational effectiveness and alignment with institutional planning cycles.
- Optimize information technology systems to enhance administrative processes, data management, and service delivery.
- Implement risk management protocols to ensure safe and consistent operations within Accessible Learning Services.
- Collaborate with Facilities and campus partners to support accessibility in classrooms, common areas, and the built environment.
- Serve as an institutional advocate for accessibility, promoting barrier free environments for students, employees, and visitors.
- Lead resolution of complex accessibility cases through coordinated problem solving with Academic Schools and College departments.
- Develop and maintain internal and external partnerships to support student transitions and cross institutional projects.
- Deliver accessibility education and awareness initiatives in collaboration with key partners and co chair the AODA Committee with the Accessibility and UDL Lead.
- Manage communication strategies to ensure clear, accessible information about services, responsibilities, and programs.
- Contribute to strategic planning and institutional reporting including multi year accessibility plans and participation in leadership activities.
- Perform other duties that support student learning, enhance access, and advance institutional accessibility and inclusion.
Qualifications/Experience - Master's degree in social services, education or public administration (e.g., Business, Leadership, Disability Studies, Psychology, etc.); equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience, including direct people management within a unionized environment
- Strong working knowledge with accessibility services, mental health, and social services; experience within postsecondary education in these areas is an asset
- Demonstrated understanding of student affairs and student success, advanced understanding of frameworks for addressing student mental health accessibility
- Experience using database systems to provide evidence-based assessments and evaluations to optimize service model delivery
- Proven financial acumen and experience managing large multiple budgets; ability to write grants for funding and reporting
- Experience developing and implementing business processes for efficiency
- Experience developing memoranda of understanding and/or contracts for service that delivery quality services while protecting institutional interests
- Applied knowledge of legislation: Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Health Information Privacy Act
- Strong understanding of equity principles and working with a highly diverse student population
- Excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills
- Demonstrated relationship management and influence skills
- Strong political acumen with proven negotiation, mediation and facilitation skills
