Summary

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Duties

This position is located in the Reentry Services Division (RSD).

Performs organizational and data collection studies on projects relating to the assessment, skills development, and reentry of federal offenders.

Responsible for the quality control of generated statistical reports for BOP executive staff and outside agency review.

Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems designed specifically to establish efficient methods for information collection and distribution.

Serves as the primary point of contact for all statistical information provided to both internal and external sources.

Provides interpretation of the data and technical assistance to CEO's, BOP executive staff, executive level staff outside the agency, and Congressional inquiries.

Independently determines the appropriated research and analysis criterial needed to retrieve the most accurate information for the request.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements.

Education:

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.

Experience:

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.

Some examples of this qualifying experience are:

  • Experience in analyzing highly technical information, drawingconclusions and providing recommendations relating to the assessment, skillsdevelopment, and reentry of federal offenders.
  • Experience in conducting data collection studies and research projects andproviding advisory services to management officials.
  • Experience in analyzing and reviewing management processes, documentationprocedures and controls, forms, records, files, directives, and informationsystem/office automation for efficiency.
  • Experience designing automated systems and software and relatedreports/output to enter and retrieve data, track information, and to produce awide range of documentation (i.e. analytical reports, spreadsheets, andstatistical charts and graphs).

The representative rate for this position is $98,459 per annum ($47.18 per hour).

NOTE: Pay rates are based on Rest of the U.S. but could change depending on the location of the position.

Special Conditions of Employment Section:

Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation.

All applicants are subject to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks.

All applicants not currently working in an institution will be required to complete a qualification inquiry regarding convictions of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence in order to be authorized to carry a firearm.

Successful completion of the "Introduction to Correctional Techniques," three-week training course at Glynco, Georgia is required.

This is a secondary law enforcement coverage position. Individuals that DO NOT have three years of law enforcement coverage gained in a primary law enforcement position by the closing date of the vacancy announcement, will not be eligible for this position.

Current Federal Law Enforcement Employees:

Completion of the mandatory courses "Introduction to Correctional Techniques (ICT) Phase I and Phase II" is a condition of employment for this secondary law enforcement position. Employees who have not yet completed ICT Phase I and II will be required to do so after entering the position. This requirement does not apply to non-law-enforcement positions.

Eligibility for secondary law enforcement coverage is determined in accordance with applicable regulations. Coverage may be attained through any qualifying federal law enforcement officer service that meets the definitions in 5 U.S.C. 8401(17) and satisfies the conditions in 5 CFR 842.803.
