Full Job Description
Akicita Federal is hiring a Mammography Technologist to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging services for the Indian Health Service at Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC) in Phoenix, AZ. In this role, you will provide screening and diagnostic mammography care to patients from multiple Native American communities, operating state-of-the-art 2D and 3D tomosynthesis equipment in a fast-paced, mission-driven clinical environment. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on the health outcomes of underserved Indigenous populations across the greater Phoenix area.

- Perform independent screening and diagnostic mammography examinations - including 2D and 3D/Tomosynthesis imaging - ordered by authorized medical staff using the Hologic Dimensions unit.

- Verify patient identity, prepare and position patients, and monitor comfort and safety throughout each examination.

- Conduct all required Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities in accordance with FDA/MQSA and American College of Radiology (ACR) standards.

- Review images for technical quality and ensure diagnostic-grade results prior to finalizing each study.

- Document services accurately and on time in Government clinical systems including RPMS, EHR, and PACS.

- Apply radiation-safety and patient-safety best practices consistent with Image Gently and Image Wisely principles on every examination.

- Comply with PIMC infection-control, privacy, security, and patient-care protocols throughout all interactions.

$145,600 - $156,000 a year

- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience performing Digital Radiography and Mammography services.

- Current ARRT certification in Radiography (R).

- Qualifications required to perform Mammography services under applicable FDA Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requirements.

- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

- Completion of Image Gently and Image Wisely training (as applicable).

- Ability to satisfy PIMC employee-health requirements including TB screening, vaccination documentation (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, influenza), and other applicable health prerequisites.

- Ability to pass federal background investigation, fingerprinting, and facility-access requirements prior to starting work.

What sets candidates apart:

- Prior experience operating a Hologic Dimensions 2D/3D Tomosynthesis mammography unit.

- Familiarity with Indian Health Service (IHS) clinical systems, including RPMS, EHR, or IHS-specific PACS environments.

- Experience delivering imaging services to Native American or other underserved patient populations.

- Additional ARRT certifications (e.g., Computed Tomography) that add scheduling flexibility across modalities.
