Knowledgeable regarding breast self-examinations via answering questions and providing written materials to patients.

Description:
The Mammography Technologist performs radiographic mammography procedures that produce high-quality diagnostic films for the detection of breast tissue abnormalities.
This position works independently and performs a variety of procedures that require independent judgment, creativity, and initiative.
Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
Performs radiologic mammography exams per department protocol, including advanced Mammography procedures like stereotactic biopsies, clip placements, and drainages.
Operates mammographic equipment to ensure the production of high-quality diagnostic images.
Uses equipment appropriately, maneuvers the unit, and selects techniques to produce diagnostic images.
Utilizes radiation protection to ensure the safety of patients and staff while meeting all ALARA program requirements.
Stays current on new procedures and equipment to maintain skills at a high level.
Maintains records required by regulatory agencies and thoroughly completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
