Full Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead the safe and efficient execution of daily maintenance activities across our Newark facility. Reporting directly to the Maintenance & Reliability Leader, this role is responsible for supervising maintenance technicians and contractor resources while ensuring maintenance work is executed safely, effectively, and in support of production objectives.

The ideal candidate will be a strong field leader who enjoys developing employees, coordinating work execution, solving equipment issues, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

This position is located in Newark, Delaware, United States (Newark, DE, USA). The Newark site plays a critical role in supporting Roquette's pharmaceutical business through the manufacture of high-quality excipient products utilized throughout the global healthcare industry.

Compensation

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $95,000-120,000. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do

Safety & Work Execution Leadership
  • Provide daily supervision and direction to maintenance technicians and contractors to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with site standards.
  • Maintain a strong field presence to reinforce safe work practices, coach employees, and remove barriers to execution.
  • Verify equipment readiness, permitting requirements, isolations, and work authorizations prior to maintenance activities.
  • Ensure maintenance work complies with site safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate emergency maintenance activities and support urgent operational needs.
  • Ensure work is completed with appropriate documentation, including Management of Change (MOC) requirements when applicable.


Maintenance Planning and Coordination
  • Lead the execution of the site's Work Management Process (WMP).
  • Coordinate daily maintenance activities and assign resources based on site priorities.
  • Partner with Production and the Maintenance Planner to align job scope, required resources, and scheduling priorities.
  • Review weekly schedules, provide execution feedback, and participate in scheduling meetings.
  • Lead daily maintenance coordination meetings to communicate priorities, resource requirements, safety concerns, and execution status.
  • Plan and coordinate emergency maintenance work while minimizing operational disruption.
  • Ensure tools, materials, permits, and work instructions are available before work begins.
  • Provide off-hours support and on-call coordination as required by business needs.


Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance technicians to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and reliability expectations.
  • Establish and communicate expectations regarding safe work practices, housekeeping standards, work quality, and performance goals.
  • Conduct performance management activities including coaching, feedback, performance discussions, and employee development planning.
  • Drive accountability for maintenance performance metrics including schedule compliance, work order completion, safety performance, and work quality.
  • Schedule maintenance personnel to support operational and maintenance priorities.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the maintenance organization.
  • Support onboarding and training of new maintenance employees.


Maintenance Systems & Reliability Support
  • Utilize SAP and maintenance management systems to support planning, scheduling, work execution, and documentation.
  • Ensure maintenance records and work orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment performance and availability.
  • Assist with identifying recurring equipment issues, bad actors, and opportunities for reliability improvement.
  • Provide field input to support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Support spare parts identification and maintenance best practices that improve equipment reliability.


MRO Inventory & Contractor Coordination
  • Serve as the maintenance process owner for MRO inventory management processes in partnership with the Maintenance Planner and MRO Inventory Controller.
  • Ensure materials, tools, and spare parts are available to support planned maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate contractor resources when supplemental support is required.
  • Assess contractor staffing requirements, technical capabilities, and resource levels to ensure alignment with maintenance scope and site expectations.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure safe and effective work execution.


What You'll Need:

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two-year Mechanical Technology Certificate or equivalent progressive responsibility in an industrial maintenance, electrical, manufacturing, mechanical, or construction environment.


Experience
  • Experience coordinating or leading maintenance activities within an industrial environment.
  • Experience planning and executing repairs, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Experience utilizing SAP or similar computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in food, pharmaceutical, chemical, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience working with SAP®, ERP systems, FMEA+, SQL databases, or document control systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, equipment repair, utilities, and maintenance processes.
  • Understanding of production processes and the impact of equipment performance on operational results.

Supervisory Responsibility
  • This role directly leads a team of approximately 6 mechanics and technicians.


Work Environment
  • This role spends approximately 50% of the time in an office environment and 50% of the time in a manufacturing plant environment. A visible field presence is expected to support safe work execution, employee engagement, and maintenance effectiveness.


Position Type / Expected Hours
  • This is a full-time position. Flexibility is required to support maintenance and operational needs. Off-hours callouts, emergency response, and on-call support may be required.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this role, employees are regularly required to:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Climb stairs and access industrial equipment areas.
  • Use hands and arms to handle tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Work in hot, cold, noisy, and industrial environments.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
