- Oversee the troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repair processes for heavy mining equipment and ancillary machinery, ensuring strict adherence to all safety, environmental, and technical standards.
- Provide technical support and expertise to the team, offering guidance during complex maintenance tasks and fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
- Cultivate a strong culture of safety by actively involving the team in safety programs and ensuring compliance with all policies and regulations.
- Efficiently schedule and oversee a diverse team of maintenance personnel to optimize equipment availability and minimize downtime, aligning maintenance activities to support company objectives and production goals.
- Collaborate with the planning team to maintain preventive maintenance schedules and manage repairs, ensuring equipment is kept in peak operating condition.
- Promote effective teamwork and communication across all levels of the organization, ensuring team members possess the necessary skills and training for their roles.
- Lead and conduct daily morning meetings to discuss priorities, safety topics, and operational updates, ensuring a cohesive and informed workforce.
- Manage maintenance contractors, ensuring external teams meet Conuma's standards and effectively support maintenance objectives.
- Conduct incident investigations, maintain detailed maintenance records, and support departmental improvements to boost operational efficiency, cost management, and environmental compliance.
- Resolve, document, and escalate personnel issues as appropriate, maintaining a productive and respectful work environment.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Education, Experience & Qualifications- Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician.
- Extensive experience with heavy mining equipment and ancillary machinery used in open pit coal mining, including shovels, drills, haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators.
- A minimum of 4 years' demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in a mining or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems.
- Knowledge and experience in environmental management practices, especially in spill avoidance, containment, and reporting, reflecting a commitment to environmental stewardship.
- Valid Mine Supervisor Certificate or eligibility for a Provisional Mine Supervisor Certificate.
Technical Competencies & Skills- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts on a 7x7 rotation.
- Proficient in English communication, essential for clear and effective team leadership, safety compliance, and operational coordination.
- Thorough understanding of mine equipment safety and maintenance standards, ensuring a high level of operational safety and equipment integrity.
