Full Job Description
Maintenance Supervisor

Reporting to the, Sr. Manager of Maintenance and Facilities. this role is responsible for supervising of the Maintenance department at all the Bolingbrook locations and Blue Island, to ensure maximum utilization of maintenance employees to keep the plant running efficiently and minimizing equipment downtime. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in maintenance methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

As a Maintenance Supervisor you will:
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results within area of control; managing manpower and materials needed to complete jobs accurately and on time.
  • Initiate and lead continuous improvement activities including researching new processes, procedures and equipment that can improve performance, coordinating with cross functional counterparts
  • Maintain plant cleanliness and 6S standards, initiating and enforcing improvement and compliance when needed.
  • Direct, maintain and enforce the safety program for the maintenance department; ensures safety training is completed on time and effectively, reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all employees.
  • Be responsible for ensuring equipment and building infrastrcuture is maintained to comply with all environmental and health and safety requirements of the city, county, state, and federal requirements; as well as general safe operation
  • Lead activities needed to perform accident investigations, safety observations, and hazard mapping
  • Support maintenance activities and training in all G&W manufacturing locations
  • Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with NFPA-70E (Arc Flash) for all maintenance activities within G&W
  • Track, analyze and improve key maintenance performances indices including asset utilization, up time, PM compliance, etc.
  • Prepare reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems; utilizes KPIs to drive improvement
  • Be responsible for all supervisory activities related to hourly maintenance personnel, including hiring and disciplinary decisions, evaluates competency and manages employee performance, development and training.
  • Maintain timekeeping and absenteeism records, manages and communicates disciplinary actions, provides timely feedback, and conducts periodic performance evaluations
  • Ensure effective employee relations by providing employee mentoring and development and resolving employee issues through coaching and problem resolution

As a Supervisor and Leader you are:

Responsible for day-to-day performance of a group ~ 6 + employees. Guides/monitors group toward its goals ensures employee's productivity, resolve problems, has authority to change work roles and work distribution. Responsible for genuine input regarding Human Resources matters of significance: e.g. participates in selection of new employees, provides meaningful input to performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations etc.

We are looking for someone who has:
  • 10+ years progressive experience in a maintenance environment
  • 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of production equipment maintenance. Direct experience in management of mechanics for the maintenance of equipment
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience directing an hourly or manufacturing workforce
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Intermediate computer skills including experience using the MS Office suite, a business planning and inventory system
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, and EPA standards

Ideally you will also have:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Extensive knowledge and leadership in the principles and practice of Lean, Six Sigma, 5P and/or other continuous improvement models; participated in related improvement projects

The Physical Demands of the job are:
  • General Office Environment, PC use
  • Light Lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less)

  • Standing

What we offer you:

Typical pay is $71,200 • $97,193 annually.
