Job Highlights

The Maintenance Shutdown Scheduler leads the planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance activities during scheduled plant shutdowns. This role partners closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, EH&S, and external contractors to ensure shutdown work is completed safely, on time, and within budget. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Develop comprehensive shutdown plans, including scope definition, timelines, resource requirements, and task prioritization.
  • Build and maintain detailed shutdown schedules to minimize operational impact and optimize efficiency.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and contractors to ensure all shutdown activities are aligned and execution-ready.
  • Allocate manpower, equipment, and materials; secure contractor services and ensure timely delivery of required resources.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, track invoices, and monitor shutdown budgets to ensure cost control.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for shutdown communications, leading planning meetings and progress reviews.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company safety standards and regulatory requirements; conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.
  • Oversee shutdown execution, monitor schedule adherence, resolve issues in real time, and lead post-shutdown reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.


Experience / Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Technical degree or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience (mechanical and/or I&E), including at least 2 years in shutdown coordination, planning, or project management.
  • Proficiency with planning and scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, SAP, Prometheus).
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance processes, plant equipment, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, purchase orders, and contractor coordination.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
