Would you like to be responsible for ensuring the mechanical reliability and performance of LEGO manufacturing equipment while driving world-class uptime and product quality?

The Mechanical Reliability Engineer will ensure that the LEGO Production team meets reliability and product quality targets by focusing on the mechanical performance and longevity of production and packaging equipment. This role is responsible for driving best-in-class maintenance practices with a strong emphasis on mechanical systems, failure analysis, and equipment reliability.

Duties will include the following:
  • Establish and improve mechanical maintenance procedures, work instructions, and equipment documentation in collaboration with internal teams and equipment suppliers.
  • Lead mechanical root cause analysis (RCA) on equipment failures impacting product quality, uptime, and production capacity.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve mechanical reliability across equipment life cycles, including condition-based and precision maintenance practices.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize mechanical systems within high-speed packaging and production lines, including conveyors, drives, gearboxes, and pneumatic systems.
  • Drive improvements in lubrication practices, alignment, balancing, and wear component management.
  • Provide technical leadership in spare parts strategy, including component selection, failure reduction, and lifecycle cost optimization.
  • Lead and support maintenance improvement initiatives and global reliability projects.
  • Ensure compliance and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance programs with a focus on mechanical health and equipment performance.
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement activities to enhance equipment uptime, reliability, and maintenance efficiency.
  • Utilize SAP as a Super User, including planning, scheduling, and optimizing preventative maintenance activities.
  • Take ownership for integration and effectiveness of the QEHS System within operational processes.

The Packaging Engineering Group is responsible for maintaining and improving factory equipment with a strong focus on mechanical system reliability and performance. This team partners closely with production to ensure equipment operates efficiently and consistently. In this role, you will spend the majority of your time:

  • Troubleshooting mechanical failures on high-speed packaging lines
  • Improving reliability of conveyance systems, rotating equipment, and pneumatic components
  • Leading hands-on investigations of equipment wear and failure modes
  • Supporting equipment rebuilds, upgrades, and mechanical system improvements
  • Driving initiatives that increase uptime, reduce maintenance costs, and improve equipment performance
  • Your work will directly contribute to increasing efficiency, productivity, and long-term reliability while maintaining LEGO's high safety and quality standards.


Do you have what it takes?
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, reliability engineering, or equipment engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with mechanical systems, including:
  • Conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, and power transmission
  • Pneumatics and mechanical actuators
  • High-speed packaging or automated equipment
  • Demonstrated expertise in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and mechanical problem solving
  • Experience implementing precision maintenance techniques (alignment, lubrication, balancing, condition monitoring)
  • Practical experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Working knowledge of electrical and automation systems to support cross-functional troubleshooting (not a controls-focused role)
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with maintenance systems (SAP preferred) including scheduling and planning
  • Experience with budgeting and cost optimization for maintenance and spare parts.


Additional
  • This position will work onsite 5 days a week.
  • Must have ability to travel globally.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.


Compensation
The salary for this position has a range of $84,674.00 - $127,010.00 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalisation of the employment offer.
