Full Job Description

Talen Energy is soliciting candidates interested in applying for an Instrument and Control Foreman position in the Instrument & Control Maintenance Department at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station located near Berwick, Pennsylvania.  

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide direction and oversight for I&C crew work and work review and to enforce Maintenance Department goals with the crew, making sure workers are adhering to station programs, work related procedures, work plans, and plant standards.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Lay out and implement strategies to complete work assignments per the scheduled times.

2. Direct and supervise work being performed in the plant, labs, and shops by Maintenance Department personnel.

3. Help crew members develop work related skills pertaining to their job and perform task evaluations for worker certification.

4. Answer technical work-related questions to the crew.

5. Develop troubleshooting plans and direct troubleshooting activities for equipment related problems in the power plant to pinpoint the exact problems.

6. Enforce departmental and organizational goals and expectations.

7. Provide feedback to Planning and Work Management Departments when we see a better or more cost-effective way of performing certain jobs.

8. Motivate the crew while performing tasks, keeping an open mind and good attitude towards the position.

9. Maintain necessary qualifications and expertise to be able to respond and lead in plant response to abnormal conditions within the Nuclear Emergency Response Organization.

10. Validate job readiness for scheduled work. Coordinate with Operations Department and others to reschedule work when needed.

11. Monitor and manage the qualifications and training of direct reports.

12. Serve as the training coordinator working closely with our training partners to ensure training and qualifications are met and have a short-term training plan along with a long-term training plan.

Basic Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Minimum of 4 years of experience in a nuclear power plant (or equivalent) maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing a wide variety of equipment typical to nuclear power generating stations.

3. Should have good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and correct coworkers; can perform duties with little to no supervision.

4. Must be able to provide maintenance supervision coverage outside of normal working hours when in an on-call/duty status.

5. Must be able to qualify and fulfill Emergency Response Organization duties and responsibilities to include meeting a 1-hour response time while in an on-call/duty status.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Should have a good knowledge of the systems within a power plant.

2. Should have good technical ability on almost all plant equipment which could break down.

3. Task certified on equipment being reworked; Energy Control Process certified.
