Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic I

Location: Cambridge, ON (On Site)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Weekend Night (40 hours)

Pay Rate: $41 - $46 (including shift premium)

We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Mechanic I

FUNCTION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Mechanic I is accountable to the Maintenance Supervisor and also has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Production Manager. This role is responsible for all activities relating to the repair, modification and preventive maintenance on production and supporting equipment in order to maintain production and in accordance with the requirements outlined in Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs preventive maintenance according to the SOPs and reports all deficiencies or unsafe working conditions found to Maintenance Supervisor
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all production machinery and plant equipment according to maintenance manuals, Best Maintenance Practices (BMP's) and/or guidance from the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Inspects and tests operation of machinery and systems to diagnose faults using testing devices. Repairs and adjusts system components or remove and replace defective parts.
  • Fabricates replacement parts for machinery and equipment as required utilizing the existing machining equipment, as well as utilizing a wide array of hand tools.
  • Supports Production unit team. Assists set-up operator with adjustments where required.
  • Works closely in a collaborative manner with the Maintenance Specialist, Maintenance Planner and Spare Parts Inventory technician.
  • Participates in continuous improvement projects as required. Executes related assignments.
  • Troubleshoots to determine best course of action to address breakdowns and repairs.
  • Performs root-cause analysis of breakdowns and repairs.
  • Participates in the Maintenance Shutdown activities working independently or as part of a team on Maintenance assignments.
  • Responds to emergencies as a member of the ERT (Emergency Response Team)
  • Follows all Aseptic practices and behavior while involved in Aseptic processes.
    • Understands basic Microbiology.
    • Understands the first air principle to avoid cross contamination of products and their components.
    • Follows proper cleaning and sanitization techniques.
  • Observes and supports all safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Demonstrates the Company Mission, Vision and Values Statements, policies, and current standard business practices.
  • Follows GMP and regulatory requirements and ensures quality standards are met.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Education
  • 433 A Millwright / Trade certification


Other requirements
  • Completed apprentice on-the-job training/work related experience (7280 hours equivalent to 3.5 years experience)
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural, mechanical, piping and instrumentation drawings (PID), understanding of electrical diagrams / schematics.
  • Maintain annual Gowning Certification.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of GMP and other related regulations.
  • Safety focused with knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of maintenance related programs.
  • Ability to work under pressure under tight timeframes.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proven analytical, trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective organizational, time management and detail-orientation skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, taking initiative and prioritizing work.
