Maintenance ManagerThis position is located in Tell City, Indiana
ROLE:Lead the site Maintenance function in providing both a reactive and pro-active, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure. Responsible for planned scheduling creation and overseeing the adherence and timely completion of work carried out. Increase the site operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery, mean time between failure and downtime reduction, and manage and implement improvement plans, driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to. Manage the team on technical best practice and establish standard policies and procedures while also mentoring and leading the department. Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
- Maintain equipment though established effective preventative maintenance program and problem solving.
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Maintenance activities.
- Maximize equipment availability, minimize unplanned downtime, and extend equipment life
- Working closely with the environmental manager, ensuring we maintain a safe working environment and remain compliant with environmental regulations.
- Monitor production line(s) OEE, while providing continuous improvement and communication to all forepersons and supervisors as necessary.
- Collaborate with Plant Manager/Assistant Plant Manager and Plant Scheduler(s) to assure production needs and changes can be met
- Direct through subordinate supervisors employees engaged in installing and repairing equipment. This includes electricians, mechanical maintenance and other disciplines.
- Schedule both internal and external work(s) maximizing planned down time and reducing unplanned downtime.
- Manage contractors on site to ensure they meet legal and company requirements
- Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications and code.
- Manages maintenance personnel, establishes and manages multiple priorities in a dynamic environment; plans daily work schedules /priorities across multiple shifts.
- Ensure maintenance resources are properly trained, staffed & managed across a three-shift operation to meet manufacturing expectations for equipment and support services.
- Provide strategic and operational direction to the Maintenance staff in support of company objectives.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by ensuring adherence to standards and procedures; complying with legal codes and regulations.
- Leads the investigation, reporting, and implementation of corrective actions because of quality problems or safety incidents.
- Provides technical support, analysis and problem-solving skills to resolve issues as needed.
- Ensure routine calibration and maintenance requirements of a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems are undertaken
- Monitors and analyzes the computerized maintenance management system for effectiveness & continuous improvement.
- Establishes standard procedures for maintenance activities; maintains departmental performance measures.
- Manage systems and equipment data storage and maintain high levels of standards and accuracy.
- Manages Maintenance Department spending.
- Develop clear accountability for maintenance material spend combined with a strategy to manage expenditure.
- Prepares maintenance & facilities annual operating and capital budgets; provides recommendations and supports AR process, ensures projects are on-time and within budget as appropriate.
- Leads construction projects, remodels and other special projects.
- Prepares contracts, request for quotes, cost estimates and reports as required.
- Manage the process of the introduction of new machinery, plant and equipment from drawing up the specification, to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties.
- Manage the process of disposal of obsolete machinery, plant and equipment from gaining agreement to write off to physically removing it and its safe and lawful disposal.
- Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
- Produce written reports and make presentations
- Undertake continuous training and development
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
- Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization
- Provide technical expertise to the team
- Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact
- Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
Education/Experience Requirements:- Extensive plant level experience with significant proven people management experience
- Completed a fully indentured apprenticeship with a mechanical/ electrical/ electronic discipline.
- Technical capability and understanding
- Experience of managing Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibilities for maintenance
- Understanding of manufacturing and procurement/supply chain.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong proficiency in SAP
- Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree Preferred
