Job Description and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance organization and is responsible for the upkeep of production equipment and facility infrastructure, as well as the management of the maintenance budget and shredder assets. CF&I Recycling is committed to maintaining and promoting a safe, healthy and injury-free environment. It is required for all jobs.
  • Drive operational excellence in the areas of safety, quality, maintenance and cost
  • Proactively work to reduce safety risks while creating a safety-first culture
  • Ensure implementation of a maintenance methodology and approach that improves equipment availability
  • Manage the maintenance team, planning and budgeting process and ensure maintenance budget compliance
  • Ensure maintenance performance monitoring & reporting
  • Manage overall level of spare inventory including selection of appropriate spare inventory management programs and target inventory levels. Perform monthly spare inventory reconciliation
  • Plan, implement and direct a comprehensive, effective and cost-efficient preventative maintenance program
  • Provide recommendations to the Regional Manager for the upgrading of obsolete equipment, and procedure changes this includes capital initiatives
  • Develop and apply KPIs and metrics to track the progress of reliability programs
  • Develop the reliability processes and assist in the implementation of advanced asset maintenance strategies
  • Train employees in reliability best practices to increase operational effectiveness, reduce risk, and optimize costs
  • Align maintenance activities with the Operations Manager as required
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned


Requirements
  • Journeyperson or senior trade professional with 8+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering considered an asset
  • Experience with the development and implementation of maintenance reliability programs required
  • 5 or more years of experience managing a maintenance team considered an asset
  • Must be proficient in blueprint and schematics reading
  • Excellent mechanical equipment troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding and knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel considered an asset
  • In depth knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Equipment functionality and alignment (laser and dial)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Equipment design experience, preferred


Compensation
  • $115,000-$125,000 USD Annual based on experience
