Job Summary

The Maintenance Manager plays a critical leadership role in directing all activities within the Maintenance Department, ensuring optimal operation and upkeep of manufacturing plant machinery and equipment. This position oversees preventative maintenance, repairs, and the management of the CNC production-milling center, contributing significantly to maintaining high productivity and equipment reliability.

Primary Duties

  • Develop and enforce departmental objectives aligned with guidance from the Plant Superintendent and Director of Manufacturing, fostering continuous improvement in maintenance operations.
  • Lead and manage a diverse Maintenance Department team comprising maintenance technicians, a machinist, janitorial staff, and CNC production machinists, ensuring effective workforce deployment and development.
  • Coordinate daily schedules for maintenance tasks, balancing urgent repairs and routine preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and support uninterrupted production flow.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing supervisors to prioritize maintenance requests based on production demands, ensuring responsiveness and resource efficiency.
  • Implement and review company safety policies related to maintenance activities, proactively promoting a culture of safety awareness and compliance among all department members.
  • Organize ongoing training programs to enhance technical skills and safety knowledge, adapting to evolving technologies and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate cross-departmentally with engineering and manufacturing management to support equipment enhancements, rebuild projects, and new equipment design, ensuring seamless integration and operational effectiveness.
  • Manage inventory control for maintenance spare parts, including tracking, ordering, and purchasing processes to ensure timely availability of critical components.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and workforce performance metrics to support data-driven decision making and continuous department improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the organization's evolving needs.


Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret technical documents such as business periodicals, professional journals, and regulatory materials relevant to maintenance and manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent written communication abilities to compose detailed reports, standard operating procedures, and correspondence that effectively communicate maintenance strategies and findings.
  • Proficient in presenting complex information clearly and confidently to various stakeholders including management teams, clients, and staff members.
  • Solid mathematical competencies encompassing calculation of discounts, percentages, ratios, and geometric figures to support maintenance planning, budgeting, and inventory management.
  • Ability to apply algebraic and geometric concepts practically to troubleshoot mechanical systems and optimize maintenance procedures.
  • Outstanding problem-solving capabilities, with a strong aptitude for gathering relevant data, discerning patterns, and drawing sound conclusions to resolve maintenance challenges effectively.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical instructions, schematics, and diagrams and manage multiple variables and abstract concepts within operational settings.


Education / Experience

  • A minimum of eight to ten years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance management or a related field, demonstrating a strong track record of leadership and technical proficiency.
  • Equivalent combinations of formal education and hands-on experience will be considered to assess candidate suitability.
  • Possession of a current, valid Pennsylvania driver's license, with a good driving record, is required to manage off-site and on-site facility visits where needed.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate. This role is also eligible for a bonus.
