AXIS ENGINEERING- Maintenance Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the Company's mission, vision, values, and goals in the performance of daily activities.
  • Responsible for performance feedback and leadership of all direct reports, including mentoring, coaching, counseling, and corrective action when situations dictate.
  • Provide direction and leadership consistent with the company and department business plan goals.
  • Responsible for leading all maintenance activities.
  • Direct and drive the utilization of problem-solving methods for related corporate and customer issues.
  • Provide an active leadership role in meeting / exceeding customer expectations in all related areas.
  • Utilize teamwork to develop company and department synergy.
  • Ensures that all utility systems are fully operational and inspected in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Implement a method to improve productivity capabilities and solve operational problems.
  • Maintains preventive maintenance program, HVAC, and facility infrastructure.
  • Support plant goals of cost, quality, service, safety, and raw material waste.
  • Implement cost savings, renovations, and safety projects for the plant.
  • Prepares cost estimates for building renovations or space allocations and inspects completed work for conformance to specifications.
  • Administer preventive maintenance programs, emergency repair of production equipment, and support facilities and production equipment changeover.
  • Assure all direct reports are aware of their Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) responsibilities and hold all direct reports accountable.
  • Guides design, implementation, and verification of installations, repairs, and construction.
  • Develop change management proposals, draft plans, and oversee project activities.
  • Direct maintenance and engineering department process improvements and corrective actions.
  • Providing leadership is essential to maintaining safety as a fundamental priority in department-based activities.
  • Responsible for ensuring the entire team has the necessary training, tools, and materials to properly perform their roles safely and efficiently.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide key input into the development of the corporate and department strategic business plan and identify and track key metrics to support corporate and department business plan goals.
  • Develop and drive the development of departmental strategic goals and identify and track key measurable indicators to support the department's goals.
  • Track, monitor, and implement required improvement activities related to business plan, goals, issues, etc.
  • Assist, as required, with corporate and department activities to achieve customer cost reduction goals.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers as appropriate.
  • Oversee department-manning levels to assure compliance and improvements to the budget.
  • Responsible for overall coordination and communication of engineering goals.
  • Ensure accountability and discipline within the engineering department.
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA-required procedures in performing daily activities and holding direct reports accountable for enforcement.
  • Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized, and to verify individual usage of personal protective equipment by the entire work team.
  • Adherence to all company policies & procedures (ex. Quality Policy Manual, Associate Handbook, Level II Procedures, etc.).

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience in Engineering or engineering cross-discipline. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years' experience as a Maintenance Manager, preferably in a plant utilities environment or equivalent experience, and two (2) years of management experience.
  • Minimum eight (8) years' experience in an automotive/metals/assembly environment, and two (2) years of management experience.
  • Possess knowledge of plant department functions and corresponding roles and interact to facilitate overall plant synergy.
  • Detailed knowledge of electrical, HVAC, pipe fitting, machine repair, and construction methods.
  • Knowledge of automotive equipment, preventive and predictive maintenance processes.
  • Skilled trades certification desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying lean manufacturing concepts
  • Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Vision and ability to translate progressive operating techniques into applications and results.
  • Excellent procedure development and writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Duties include but are not limited to standing, walking, bending, lifting, lift, talking, and hearing, with an ability to travel. When visiting plant site locations, employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration, or hazardous materials.
