Full Job Description
Job Summary:

Under direct responsibility of Inspection Supervision, HNO Maintenance Inspector shall act as a Lead Unit Inspector and shall be responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity of the fixed mechanical equipment inside their assigned unit which includes pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping and piping components (e.g., valves), filters, heat exchangers, heaters, boilers, relief devices, platforms, ladders, handrails, and structures. The objective is to ensure that plant equipment is fit for new and/or continued service. This is applicable to all phases of fixed mechanical equipment design, procurement, fabrication, receipt and storage, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.

Job Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all visual inspections, write reports and update PCMS
  • Analyze UT data in PCMS
  • Follow and PSSR all MOCs affecting the MI program.
  • Address process/operational questions, concerns, etc.
  • Maintain relief valve data
  • Initiate deferrals of all fixed equipment (if needed) and track to completion.
  • Remain in constant communication with operations, maintenance, and engineering.
  • Ensure all MI procedures are adhered to
  • Perform Temporary Repair Inspections
  • Inspect and stamp all bundles (new and old)
  • Develop and review ITP's for upcoming turnarounds, shutdowns, cleanings, outages, projects, maintenance work, etc
  • Identify potential CUI areas and make recommendations as needed
  • Perform tank leg inspections
  • Perform ladder, handrail and platform inspections
  • Follow all fixed equipment jobs from start to completion. This includes maintenance work, capital projects, turnarounds, etc.
  • Ensure all final construction packages are correct and complete.
  • Spot check fabrication and material (MTRs). Ensure that material adheres to TPC Gem Specifications for the service.
  • Review all x-rays performed and witness all pressure tests.
  • Review and approve WPS, PQR and WPQ
  • Verify proper insulation and painting have been completed.
  • Ensure code compliance
  • Read and follow P&IDs, Construction Drawings, Inspection Isometrics, and Civil Drawings without assistance
  • Capable of sketching piping isometrics
  • Experience in circuitizing piping systems
  • Develop and follow repair plans and scopes of work
  • Report out on KPIs


Required Qualifications:

  • Holds API 510 and 570 for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Minimum 10 years inspection field experience in a chemical plant or refinery
  • Must be able to climb ladders
  • Cannot have acrophobia or claustrophobia (tower, vessel, boiler, tank)
  • Able to carry 50 pounds
  • Must have a valid TWIC Card or ability to acquire
  • Must have a valid Driver's License to travel to both sites
  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Drawing TrueView
  • Must be knowledgeable with the following codes and practices NBIC, ASME B16.5, 1, B31.3, Sect I, II, V, VIII, IV, API 510, 520, 521, 560, 570, 571, 572, 574, 576, 577, 578, 579, 582, 583, 620, 650, 651, 653, 2000, 2201, 2218 and an understanding of various ASTM, NFPA and NACE standards
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of DOT and Coast Guard Regulations
  • Must have at least 1 year experience in PCMS as an administrator
  • Must be literate in CMMS Oracle


Preferred Qualifications:

  • API 653
  • CWI or CAWI
  • Level II or III PT, MT, UTT
  • Film Interpretation
