Are you a hands-on engineering professional with a passion for equipment reliability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence? We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support our pharmaceutical manufacturing operations by driving maintenance initiatives, improving equipment performance, and ensuring facility and utility systems remain compliant, reliable, and operating at peak efficiency.

This role offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Facilities teams while supporting critical production operations in a cGMP-regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Reliability
  • Monitor work order status and collaborate with maintenance mechanics to ensure timely closure of open work orders.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance (PM) activities and equipment breakdown work orders are executed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Review preventive maintenance programs and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Support unscheduled maintenance activities and troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain manufacturing and packaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and achievement of production targets.
  • Assist with equipment qualification activities and continuous improvement projects.


Utilities & Facilities Management
  • Maintain and support critical utility systems, including:
    • HVAC Systems
    • USP Water Systems
    • Boilers
    • Compressed Air Systems
    • Hot Water Systems
    • Electrical Distribution Systems
  • Maintain facility operations in compliance with FDA, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate major maintenance shutdowns with Manufacturing and Project teams to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory to reduce equipment downtime and support maintenance activities.


Compliance & Documentation
  • Support the preparation and forecasting of annual maintenance budgets, including major projects and anticipated expenses.
  • Write, review, and execute technical documentation, including:
    • Change Controls
    • Investigations
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Validation Protocols
    • Final Summary Reports
    • Qualification Documentation
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with cGMP requirements and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).


Qualifications:

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Experience within an Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) environment preferred.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate engineered systems, equipment performance, quality systems, and compliance processes.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP regulations and good documentation practices.
  • Experience preparing and executing technical documentation, validation protocols, investigations, and change controls.
  • Strong project management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication abilities.
  • Self-motivated professional with a hands-on approach and strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and build strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Intermediate English proficiency (CEFR B1+ or equivalent).


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, packaging systems, utilities, and facility infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of facility compliance requirements related to FDA, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and operational efficiency.


Work Environment:

This position works across a variety of environments, including:

The role may include exposure to:
  • Manufacturing equipment and production noise
  • Dust, fumes, gases, and odors
  • Moving mechanical equipment

  • Industrial maintenance activities requiring strict adherence to safety procedures


Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and reach.
  • Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to navigate office, laboratory, warehouse, utility, and manufacturing environments.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, safety glasses/goggles, and safety shoes.


Travel:
  • Up to5% travel may be required.

The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $82,500 to $90,000. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan, and may be eligible for the Long Term Incentive Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs which include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; disability insurance; 401(k) savings plan; flexible spending accounts; and the employee assistance program. Employees also receive various paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time.
