We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to own and evolve the infrastructure that supports R&D testing, spanning existing lab equipment and new large‑scale thermal and high-density liquid cooling (HDLC) test infrastructure. You will play a key role in strengthening lab reliability and ensuring test systems can support sophisticated engineering validation work.
** This is a salaried, direct-hire position. You will work on-site 5 days/week in Anoka, MN. Core hours are from 9:30 am - 3:30 pm. **
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
- Own the maintenance, reliability, and long‑term readiness of R&D engineering test lab equipment, including thermal, pressure, mechanical, and electro‑mechanical systems.
- Develop, implement, and sustain preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime and improve equipment availability.
- Lead calibration planning, execution, and documentation for lab equipment, ensuring traceability to NIST standards in support of ISO 17025 and UL certification requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement maintenance, repair, upgrade, installation, and commissioning projects for existing test assets and new test facilities coming online.
- Solve complex issues involving industrial refrigeration systems, controls, sensors, electrical power, and mechanical components.
- Partner with R&D engineers to support test execution and provide engineering input on test cell layout, equipment design, and lab infrastructure.
- Implement, integrate, and support controls, LabVIEW‑based test software, and data acquisition systems used to operate, monitor, and calibrate lab equipment.
YOU HAVE:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related technical field (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience supporting sophisticated electromechanical systems in an R&D lab, test environment, commercial/industrial facility, or manufacturing setting.
- Background working with industrial refrigeration or thermal systems, including integrated heating, cooling, and compressor‑based systems.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, PLC‑based controls, sensors, and data logging systems.
- Experience implementing, integrating, or supporting controls software and LabVIEW‑based test environments preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement planned and condition‑based maintenance in uptime‑critical environments.
- Strong diagnostic skills and sound engineering judgment, including the ability to interpret equipment documentation, manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings to diagnose root causes and implement durable solutions.
- Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs. without assistance and stand or sit for extended periods.
- EPA 608 certification required, or willingness to acquire within 3 months of start date (company paid).
Pay Transparency
nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
Compensation Range:
$76,000.00 - $141,100.00
Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
