About this position:The maintenance electrician position will be responsible for having general knowledge and familiarity with electrical tools and equipment, electrical drawings and diagrams, safe electrical work practices, electrical code, and troubleshooting electrical problems as required. Compliance with safety standards and knowledge and experience of safe work practices is required. Performs highly skilled electrical work in the development, installation, testing, maintenance, repair and calibration of automation systems, fault measuring equipment and acceptance testing on equipment associated with the generation and distribution of electrical power.

About this job: - Demonstrate proficiency in the use of drills, grinders, hand tools, indicators, gauges, sanders, jacks, hoists, fans, electrical hand tools, testing equipment and all other tools and safety equipment needed to perform the job
- Perform preventative maintenance or direct repair on electrical equipment
- Complete work to minimize out of service time of any piece of equipment
- Perform all work as requested by supervisor
- Interpret blueprints or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances
- Recognize design errors and make necessary changes
- Working knowledge of meters, relays, and other protective equipment.
- Knowledge of operating test equipment including Meggar, voltmeters, ohmmeters and ammeters
- Read one-line diagrams and electrical drawings
- Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, and work orders
- Complete electrical equipment and system overhauls, installations, and troubleshoot electrical problems
- Lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds occasionally
- Perform general labor in support of routine O&M
- Troubleshooting mechanical problems
- Support general mechanical repairs with mechanical hand and power tools
- Welding and fabrication
- Safe rigging and equipment handling practices
- Operation of backhoe, skid steer, forklift, man lift, and other similar heavy equipment

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Electrical license preferred
- Must pass physical test to access all areas of the hydro plants, including climbing ladders, confined and cramped wet slippery quarters and traveling rough terrain
- Knowledge of hydro plant systems is desirable
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment, electrical systems and hydraulics
- General knowledge of protective relaying and computer automation is desirable
- Working knowledge of exciters, DC and AC motors
