Job DescriptionThe QA/QC Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing quality assurance and quality control programs to ensure all work is completed in accordance with client specifications, company standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry codes.
This position provides leadership and direction to QA/QC personnel, coordinates quality activities across multiple disciplines, and serves as the primary quality representative for site operations.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Responsibilities- Manage and oversee all Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities for maintenance and construction projects.
- Develop, implement, and maintain site quality management systems, procedures, and inspection programs.
- Lead and supervise QA/QC inspectors and quality personnel.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications, company procedures, applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Review inspection plans, quality documentation, test reports, certifications, and turnover packages.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, audits, and quality reviews with operations, maintenance, engineering, and client representatives.
- Monitor fabrication, installation, repair, and maintenance activities to verify adherence to quality requirements.
- Investigate non-conformances and quality issues, develop corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain quality records, inspection logs, and project documentation.
- Ensure material traceability and verification of certifications and vendor documentation.
- Participate in project planning, pre-job meetings, and scheduling discussions to identify quality requirements and potential risks.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client quality concerns and audits.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality performance, reliability, and process efficiency.
- Mentor and develop QA/QC personnel while promoting a culture of quality and accountability.
- Ensure all quality activities are performed in accordance with site safety policies and procedures.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 5 years of QA/QC experience in a refinery, petrochemical, industrial maintenance, or heavy industrial environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems, inspection practices, and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, P&IDs, isometrics, and construction documents.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), API, NACE, or other industry-recognized certifications.
- Experience working in a refinery or petrochemical facility.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, ANSI, and other applicable industry codes and standards.
- Experience supporting maintenance, capital, or turnaround projects.
- SAP experience preferred.
Physical Requirements- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, climb ladders, climb stairs, and perform field observations throughout an active industrial facility.
- Ability to work in office and field environments.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, and flame-resistant clothing.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work EnvironmentWork is performed in both office and field environments within an operating refinery and petrochemical facility. Employees may be exposed to noise, vibration, moving equipment, varying weather conditions, elevated work areas, and other industrial hazards. Strict adherence to all safety, environmental, and quality requirements is mandatory.
