Full Job Description
Maint Mech B HVACR

Responsible for repairing and maintaining plant equipment and tools, you ensure continuous operation through timely preventive and predictive maintenance; In this role, you troubleshoot equipment issues, execute preventive maintenance plans using SAP information, and complete corrective maintenance tasks during shifts; You maintain accurate maintenance records, comply with health, environmental, and safety (HES) policies, and conduct patrols to identify any abnormal findings; Additionally, you prepare detailed reports on maintenance activities and ensure all tools are properly maintained and used.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Maint Mech B HVACR, are to:
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) equipment, including scheduled predictive and preventive maintenance and project support;
  • Perform HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) and ULPA (Ultra-Low Penetration Air) filter testing, document findings, and report any discrepancies;
  • Complete daily maintenance work according to the work schedule, record data, and report on work orders using SAP and other systems;
  • Assess the accuracy and effectiveness of HVAC/R preventive maintenance procedures and provide feedback to the document owner for continuous improvement;
  • Maintain State, Federal, and site compliance for refrigerants and oils, including documentation and reporting of any discrepancies;
  • Follow and promote Company safety, environmental, and operating policies and procedures, including NFPA 70E, cGMP, and HES requirements;
  • Demonstrate safe work practices, follow all relevant HSES procedures, attend safety meetings, and promptly report nonconforming conditions to appropriate personnel;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as Engineering, Production Operations, Scheduling and Planning, Quality Assurance, other Maintenance crafts, and third-party vendors/contractors.


WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED plus a minimum of three (3) years of HVAC maintenance experience;
  • Or completion of a technical school/accredited 2-year program or applicable military experience and a minimum of two (2) years of field experience;
  • EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) certification in handling refrigerants;
  • Experience and competency with HVAC/Refrigeration systems and controls, both electrical and pneumatic;
  • Technical working knowledge of PCS (Process Control System) and electrical utilities;
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams;
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift, scissor lift, and JLG;
  • General knowledge of shop tools and their safe operation;
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English to understand written and verbal instructions and SOPs;
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions, maintain acceptable attendance and performance, and work weekends, holidays, overtime, and 10-hour shifts as required;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision;
  • Detail orientation with strong record-keeping practices and the ability to multitask, troubleshoot, and use analytical judgment to plan and perform diversified work within prescribed limitations;
  • Computer skills including use of laptop, tablet, HMI, PLC, and proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and MODA;


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience with refrigeration equipment operating within a temperature range of -406C to -56C.
  • Proficient knowledge of other trades (Instrumentation, Plumbing, Electrical);
  • SAP experience;

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 645 lbs. and push/pull up to 6450 lbs. with assistance;
  • Ability to perform frequent repetitive movement, stooping, crouching, kneeling, climbing ladders, and sitting;
  • Ability to climb up to 640 feet and/or 643 stories;
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work at heights, around moving machinery, and with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, and drafts;
  • Ability to identify color-coded labels and pass an eye exam including near vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment;
  • Ability to meet Occupational Demands/Physical Requirement checklist;
  • Hepatitis B vaccination recommended.


During the training phase, the working hours will be from 06:00 AM to 02:30 PM, Monday through Friday. After the training period, the schedule will shift to swing shift hours, operating on a 4/10 basis, from 2:00 PM to 00:30 AM.

Employees can anticipate receiving a union wage of $50.36 per hour, along with an additional swing shift differential of $2.25 per hour. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..
