Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DBA to support a large-scale public sector technology environment. The role will focus on maintaining stable, secure, and high-performing enterprise mainframe database platforms. The Mainframe DBA will partner with application and infrastructure teams to administer, monitor, optimize, and support IBM Db2 for z/OS databases and ensure reliable daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer and maintain IBM Db2 for z/OS databases in a mainframe environment.
• Monitor database health, availability, and performance to ensure reliable daily operations.
• Execute database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures supporting high availability requirements.
• Analyze database workloads to identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimization strategies.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database performance and operational issues.
• Support database deployments, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support enterprise database operations.
• Maintain database documentation and contribute to operational best practices.
• Support database security administration and user access management.
• Provide production support and assist with incident resolution.
Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years of IBM Db2 for z/OS administration experience in a mainframe environment.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS operating system fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies.
• Proven experience monitoring, tuning, and optimizing Db2 performance through workload analysis and troubleshooting.
• Experience with database security administration and user access management.
• Experience providing production support and resolving database-related incidents.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with application and infrastructure teams.
